#player1 Bryn Bryn
#player2 Jared Jared
>Bryn: EFNTTUV H5 TUFT +14 14
#note I prefer sacrificing a bit for this placement against Jared. Just makes things less staircasy/S hooky, even if he averages more immediately.
>Jared: DEEIMNS 9B DEMINES +70 70
>Jared: DEEIMNS -- -70 0
>Bryn: EHILNOV G3 OVINE +20 34
#note Blocking SEDIMENT in both spots, although I guess I could give him it on row 5. The only play that has a positive valuation given full knowledge of Jared's rack.
>Jared: DEEIMNS 9H SIDEMEN +70 70

>Bryn: ABBINNT 8M BIB +27 126
>Jared: AF 7N FA +15 113
>Bryn: AAENNTZ L1 ZE.A +48 174
#note Almost played BEZANT here. I know I give back a ton but score 48 points, take your medicine, and decrease entropy.
>Jared: EIN 1L .EIN +39 152
>Bryn: ADENNTT K8 T.NANTED +70 244

#note Rattled to see PATOOTIE and EPOPOEIA both blocked. Mega whiff on POOED. Just terrible. Had a cool chat with Jackson Smylie recently about how to categorize mistakes as small, medium, or big. In this case, although OPED isn't that much worse than POOED, it's a big mistake. The rationale behind the play is almost identical, OPED is just a clearly inferior version of POOED. If an alternative option does exactly what your play does and more (scores 3 more, and keeps a lot better), then your play sucks and you should probably quit.
>Jared: PRY E3 .PRY +18 202
>Bryn: ?ACILOO 12D LOCAtIO. +68 338
#note The babiest bingo of them all
>Jared: AEIKRRS 14B KARRIES +78 280
#note Fantastic move, and neither the first nor last time today that Jared turns a whole lotta nothing into something with a great phony. First of all, I actually kinda liked it. I know KARRI doesn't grammatically imply KARRIES, but it just looked good to me, and I knew that SARKIER had an anagram (the valid KERRIAS). Also, the whole "really hard to challenge in this position blah blah blah" thing is really overrated. Letting KARRIES stay on the board is wayyyy more costly than losing a challenge up 58 on a bingoless board with Jared drawing seven. Kudos to him for craftily exploiting this weakness in my game yet again.
>Bryn: CGMNRRW C13 C.W +16 354
#note Not getting much love from the duck for this one but really it's fine. Need to stop being too lazy to find a plethora of options at G11.
>Jared: GSU L9 .UGS +39 319
#note Awesome play. Jared found some really cool possibilities to get himself back into this one.
>Bryn: GMNRRUV G10 GR.V. +13 367
#note *See note on the OPED turn. GR(A)V(E)R - real good play. GR(A)V(E) - real bad play. Very sloppy board vision here.
>Jared: AWY 11C WAY +30 349
#note Getting nervous now
>Bryn: MNORTTU 10B TO +9 376
#note Imprecise. Probably not the worst move in the world, but so many improperly weighed threats. Three things to really focus on here: 1. Sure he just set up a bingo lane, but the pool is shit and even if he does hit it it won't score too much and will give plays back. That said, a play like M(E)NTO K2 (Quack's suggestion) will put him by about 15 points if he hits his set up 2. I really don't think he has the Q when he plays WAY. Really hard to envision scenarios where you do this instead of Q(I). I was cognizant of the potential column O plays, but nothing big plays there involving the Q. In fact, the available Q dump helps me, as non-bingo losing scenarios often involve being semi-Q stuck (dumping it for minimal points). Let's imagine he doesn't have the Q here and maybe has an I - is it worth considering taking out this spot and trying to outmaneuver me if I draw the Q? Interesting 3. The unseen X makes my cat vs. mouse gameplan extremely risky. He has multiple outrun scenarios available if I opt for a minimally scoring block. I think I definitely overadjusted here, and don't like this move very much. Would love to know Jared's rack on this play, so many cool possibilities depending on whether he had the Q (don't think so), an I, or both I's (makes a Q-stick gameplan far more appealing). I think TRUM(P) 4A is such a cool play and wish I'd had the guile to pull it off. It does give Jares some eight possibilities, but again, this pool is bad. If he decides to score with the Q or X on column A, we'll be roughly tied but I'll have end game tempo as he'll have to empty the bag. Crucially, this play sets up another Q spot, which tanks his possibility of trying to execute a hard or soft Q stick. Sure he often gets AX/OX leaving one in the bag, but I'll still get my Q bailout at M13. I just feel like while there are definitely ways to lose after TRUMP, it does a good job of handling a variety of losing scenarios. I don't think Quackle is good at all at envisioning an opponent's Q stick gameplan, and this play deals with that well. Very cool turn.
>Jared: Q M13 Q. +22 371
>Bryn: IMNORTU 15N MU +16 392
#note Sims best. So sheepish to switch gears from blocking an unlikely bingo to blocking the most obvious X threat. SIX/SEX are much more likely that any bingo threat (do any even play?). Range finding is impossible after QI, but gotta think he has the blank here. Still in a lot of trouble, but this looks right.
