Player 1
#player1 Josh Josh
#player2 Mack Mack
>Josh: AACHRRU -ARU +0 0
#note I knew this was wrong, but not so wrong. I missed CRURA (keep only seeing CURAR* and doubting it) and I saw CURARA and was unsure. I exchanged URA keeping CHAR
>Mack: AAEIIOZ -AAIIO +0 0
#note Not playing ZOEA especially after a small exchange
>Josh: ACGHIRR H3 GHARRI +28 28
>Mack: EEIINYZ 5H .IYEE +16 16
#note Seems like a small mistake - ZAYIN is a lot more points even though EEI is pretty bad. Also EYEING is 6 more and, while he might score a lot under it, I could also get a big Z play there.
>Josh: CLQRSTW -LQTW +0 28
>Mack: AEIINOZ 3G A.ONIZE +38 54
#note I agonized over this a little bit but decided ZOEAE gave too much back and didn't like the monster L hook with IONIZER, plus this keeps the board very open long-term which is what I want against Josh
>Josh: CEFNORS L5 .NFORCES +78 106
#note this was the pivotal moment of the game, where I can play CONFERS 9B and perhaps keep the board within certain restraints but I decided fuck it let's do this slugfest thing that apparently defines you as a strong player
>Mack: EEILORT 6A LOITERE. +62 116
#note Exposing as many floaters as possible in my quest to keep the board as difficult to shut down as possible
>Josh: DIKNTUV N3 DUNK +38 144
>Mack: AFHIOPS 12F SOAPFI.H +67 183
>Josh: EIIMNTV B5 M.NITIVE +65 209
>Mack: ?AAEEOW A5 O.EA +24 207
>Josh: BEJNTVX 12A V.XT +36 245
#note since I kept BENJ# on my rack I knew I was going to win

however he had just blocked J(I)NX for 78
>Mack: ?AELRTW E4 TR.ELAWn +90 297
>Josh: BCEJMNQ H11 J.MBE +48 293
#note keeping up but I need something to work with and fast
>Mack: ADDELNP 15B DEPLAN.D +65 362
>Josh: AACNQSU D2 QUA +28 321
#note not sure if this would be the right move against just anyone, but it does have the value of possible recursion if I miss and Mack doesn't block the hook I just created. There is only one A left and a blank, so I liked my chances of success with this setup. Quackle would like AQUAS O6 (not AQUA because the S is very useless here) by about 5 points, so I think QUA is correct.
>Mack: BGITUUW -BGITUUW +0 362
#note Very very bad time for this draw. I could do 2I BUG but ITUW is so bad and it still leaves AQUA open in a large respect... hindsight would suggest otherwise but I think exchanging 7 going for the good stuff is correct
>Josh: ACGNOSS 1C GASCONS +97 418
#note was so nervous up until Mack started putting his letters down
>Mack: ADELOOT 10L .OD +10 372
#note Tough spot here. I think COD is fine - there's a decent amount of stuff I could draw through the B, notably LABORITE and also BEsTOWAL or TABOULEh if I get the blank. It's basically impossible for Josh to block both the B and column O unless he has 13M IT which isn't all that likely. Another idea we came up with postmortem is fishing off an O in hopes of drawing O4 TOADLET, which he might leave open in favor of blocking the B. Champ likes M12 HOOD which doesn't really make sense - I don't see myself winning without a bingo and it's pretty easy for Josh to block column O. Not entirely sure what's best here - nothing jumps out as great, and while I don't think COD is a bad play, I could certainly believe it's not optimal.
>Josh: ?BIIRUY O8 BUsY +30 448
#note I spent most of the remainder of my time (around 12 minutes) looking for possible bingos he could have, and then possible bingos he might be going for once I saw nothing, and at some point just decided to play it a bit safe. It was easier to find things from or through the B or F in SOAPFISH than it was to see a 9 or a 10 through the L I and O in the middle of the board. I can just play BI(Z) L1 here and I wish I had, that would have been ballsy af but I had already hit rock bottom this tourney.
>Mack: AELOTTW I10 TO.E +21 393
#note 14B AT is apparently best. I was quite low on time after burning it all on COD
>Josh: GIIRU C12 .I +18 466
>Mack: ALTW K11 W.T +22 415
>Josh: GIRU M12 .UG +14 480
>Mack: AL 14F LA. +13 428
>Mack: (IR) +4 432
