#note just like last game, mack opens with an exchange and I get a 5 letter J play

get ready for a good old fashioned bagging
>mack: DFI I7 DIF +20 20
>jackson: AEHRTWX J8 TAX +34 74
#note seems I missed a big opportunity with J9 AX - I bingo almost 30% with EHRTW and score over 10 more than EHRW with TAX!

part of it might be plays on row 11 that give back the triple, but it seems the bingo % is the biggest thing. TAX sims second best

>mack: IQS M9 QIS +33 84
>jackson: BDEEORV 13C OVERB.ED +86 205
#note OVERBED is quite a lot better, but I was only like 90% sure whereas I was 100% sure of OVERBRED

OVERBED is good because it makes the top left in danger of being closed - he'll have to be quite proactive to keep it open, whereas after OVERBRED it will stay open much more naturally, in addition to the immediate threats of the K column and 5 row

>mack: OOUY L11 .OYOU +22 190
>jackson: AEEFIRT M13 EF +25 316
#note EF has some downsides like allowing N12 plays that open big S hooks, but I ultimately like it more than IF/QI - despite my interest in scoring consistent points, right now only the left side of the board is seriously open, which is okay for me since I have more than a 2 bingo lead, and it will be really hard to get 2 bingoes down on the left side of the board without totally exhausting it. basically an O column bingo is really dangerous not just cause it can score a lot of points, but because it doesn't interfere with the left side of the board at all. I figured the value I got from not directly opening the right column offset the 12 point difference in score.

the immediate benefit of the leave is also slightly helpful - although it's not my MO right now, if I do get a bingo down the game will be practically over
>mack: IORZ N6 ZORI +44 234
#note nice play to score and open the right side
>jackson: AAEINRT 2H ATA.RINE +74 390
#note not sure - AERATION has a nice aspect of starting to exhaust the left side of the board. ATABRINE scores 14 valuable points and also leaves hotspots open. although the 1 row is a detrimental hotspot cause it's so huge (he can have a 100 point bingo there), I think the 14 points and the O column hotspot are enough to make it worth it. idk though, I can see the positional advantage of aeration being good enough though.

at this point I kinda committed myself to the outrunning approach, cause even after AERATION it's possible for him to get 3 bingoes down

#note saw CONGENER but wasn't 1000% sure

the idea here is to leave 6 tiles in the bag, preventing him from bingoing twice, which is the only way I can lose the game.

also it's fun to play generIc for 11 points

it's worth noting that spread was not an issue for me at all at this point - I just had to win this game and the next to win the tournament (there was no chance of me catching bnjy or mallick on spread). if spread was an issue I would play CONGENER
