#note Missed ADMIX. I inferred a good leave for her after GLUED, probably with 3 one pointers including 2 consonants and an E. As a result, I opted not to expose an E with H1 EXPAT.

#note I saw IXNAY, but didn't like the high scoring spot it gave her to fish. I chose this to give myself 14A AX and keep M7 MAX.

#note Wasn't sure of HUMIC, but I felt the case I could be useful with the pool. I imagined her being very close to a bingo, so I blocked things like CONDENSE.

#note So many basic mistakes keep popping up in my games and I feel like I don't really know how to improve upon them. I'm hoping I can find a way to get more over-the-board practice, but there just aren't that many ways to do that against similarly rated people where I live. I can forgive myself for things like VEERIES since I haven't been studying as much as I'd like to, but to keep misscoring plays (LAWSUIT), to mess up basic endgames (WINCE), to mistrack (AIRING), and to overlook scoring spots (QI against Joe, the X against Lee) is really frustrating and it makes it hard for me to feel like I really earned a result like this. Maybe I'm being too hard on myself, but I know I'm better than this. Not sure how to improve all this yet, but my next tournament in Boston (as of posting these games right after this tournament) is a significant step up from this field, and I hope I'll be ready.

Thanks to everyone who's helped me get this far. Both those who support me and those who wish I would stop playing help me mature as a person and a player and motivate me to do my best with this game that I can do. I'm sure there's a number of people in both camps. But at the end of the day, I remember what Patty Camp told me on Saturday night of this tournament. "Scrabble's just about the fun. If you were going to these tournaments just for the rating, you would be going for the wrong reason."
