#player2 Mark_Nyman Mark Nyman
>Dave_Koenig: ?CDIMOT 8D COaDMIT +78 78
#note There is no perfect placement of a bingo here, but making the blank the A is favorable over making it an E with DEMOTIC simply because the E would increase his probability of bingoing back.
>Mark_Nyman: AEGNNRU 7I GUNNERA +68 68
>Dave_Koenig: AEHMPSX 8M HEX +73 151
#note Mark was one of several EXCHAMPS* at this tournament, so I showed him the respect of not trying that silly phony.
>Mark_Nyman: JO 6J JO +53 121
>Dave_Koenig: AIMNPST E3 TAMPI.NS +74 225
#note This and its anagrams PTOMAINS and MAINTOPS all tie for the best scoring bingo. MAINTOPS is probably a hair better, just because the M it exposes on row 3 is a slightly less dangerous bingo tile than the T, but this is a marginal difference.
>Mark_Nyman: BBOO 5K BOOB +26 147
>Dave_Koenig: AEEILOS 9I OE +19 244
>Mark_Nyman: II -II +0 147
>Dave_Koenig: AEILSTU K9 SITULAE +67 311
#note I have yet another bingo, but it exposes the E in the triple-triple lane when Mark's previous play of exchanging two tiles suggests a strong rack. But I could not justify forgoing the bingo here, as the 150+ lead I take will probably keep me in the driver's seat even if he triple-triples, and otherwise things will be much worse for him.
>Mark_Nyman: CEINORY O1 CORNY +45 192
#note I believe Mark told me that he was holding ORIENCY at this point, which means I lucked out in avoiding a bingo from him. However, if this was his rack, COREY in the same spot was better than his play.
>Dave_Koenig: AAEIIVW 15G WAIV. +33 344
#note WAIVE at 14J scores 5 more points but leaves more dangerous lanes open to him and has a worse leave of AAI for me. Even when you have to leave all vowels, a leave in which they are at least all different such as AEI has a significantly higher chance to improve into a good rack.
>Mark_Nyman: EHW 4J HEW +34 226
>Dave_Koenig: AEISTVZ D4 ZA +48 392
#note D1 AVIZE was my high scoring play, but there was no need to take the risk of opening the triple-triple this time. My play is probably a bit better, but SUIVEZ was another nice possibility. I suppose it would have been too greedy to complain about not having an open I for IZVESTIA with this rack.
>Mark_Nyman: EFIQ 12H FIQ.E +42 268
>Dave_Koenig: EINPSTV M12 SPIV +36 428
#note Clearly best. The high score and good rack management make it worth spending the S here. Some players get too eager to hoard S's, but keep in mind that the FIQUES hook is the best place for the S on this board. There is not a lot of reason to hold onto it for something else.
>Mark_Nyman: AU 15M .AU +18 286
>Dave_Koenig: ?EEKNRT 13C RETaKEN +90 518
>Mark_Nyman: OY 14F YO +35 321
>Dave_Koenig: ADEELST G1 DESALTE. +62 580
#note Sacrificing one point over DETASSEL just to give him slightly less dangerous comeback lanes.
>Mark_Nyman: AEILRRT 2F R.TAILER +62 383
>Dave_Koenig: GIILNOR 1E RO.ING +37 617
#note The way everything else was going my way in this game, it was a bit surprising that I did not have a spot for ROILING or LIGROIN, but I found my high scoring play, taking me over 600.
>Mark_Nyman: ADDEFGU 12A FEUD +32 415
