>Conrad: BOW 8G BOW +16 16
>Bill: ACEHMOU 9H MOUCHE +25 25
#note Phony. Also phonily scored as 24.
>Conrad: BERSTTU L3 TURBET.S +78 94
#note Ironically, the best score hooks my phony (N8 BRUTEST). But this is probably still better.
>Bill: AAEKLNS N3 ALKANES +77 102
#note The alkanes bond well with phonies. The board is now clean.
>Conrad: DEL O6 LED +25 119
#note I'll count that as a win.
>Bill: ??CEGST O1 TEG +15 117
#note Meh, couldn't find a 2x2, couldn't find a play through OM to the triple, nothing else seemed worthy of two blanks. SCUTIGER is the nice 2x2 I missed, nothing else scores over 75.
>Conrad: DEEIT K7 DE.EIT +25 144
>Bill: ??CNPSU H7 C..PUNctS +92 209
>Bill: ??CNPSU -- -92 117
#note Not quite...
>Conrad: AEUX L12 EAUX +42 186
#note I would definitely not have the balls to put an X in the triple lane against two blanks. Kudos to Conrad.
>Bill: ??CNPSU H7 C..PoUNdS +92 209
#note He said he figured I'd find it on the second try, but wasn't worth blocking. A few nice words on the top triple, too: INSCULPT, CONSUMPT, SINCIPUT.
>Conrad: AFH M12 FAH +33 219
>Bill: AGNRTWY I11 WRY +28 237
#note HOLY MOTHER OF CRAP GUY/YES/BOWGET!! Know the word but completely missed it here.
>Conrad: EOV J13 EVO +20 239
>Bill: AGJNRTZ 10F JA. +28 265
>Conrad: NO 11E NO +13 252
>Bill: GIINRTZ 15D ZING. +25 290
#note I liked the fact that I was 100% on GRAZINGS, having challenged it once.
>Conrad: IPR 15A PRI..... +60 312
>Conrad: IPR -- -60 252
#note I figured this was good, but luckily I decided I had to check it.
>Bill: AIIMORT J5 MOI +11 301
#note Did not know TIMARIOT. That wasn't the game-losing mistake I had planned on talking about when I started entering this game, but add it to the stack.
>Conrad: EPR D12 PRE. +30 282
>Bill: AEINQRT K2 QIN +16 317
#note Up 35, no great scoring spots, blocked the two best lanes, good leave. Things are looking good...
>Conrad: ADINOR C9 INROAD +27 309
>Bill: AEIIIRT 14B I..A +12 329
#note Okay, I know I was minus, like, 200 points equity and 300% win percentage this game and have no right to complain, but can I say once and for all SCREW I's? There should be four I's in the set, tops.
>Conrad: GV B13 V.G +13 322
>Bill: DEIILRT B9 DI +12 341
>Conrad: OY 12F YO.. +20 342
>Bill: EFILORT 10A F..O +7 348
#note This is correct! What a brilliant engame player I am! Close this tab now!
>Conrad: AAEIRST 9A E..T +12 354
>Bill: EILLRT A7 TR.. +21 369
#note Sooooo... I saw RILLET as Conrad was thinking. Started doubting it, but still, have to try it, right? Conrad had ample time and thought for four or five minutes. So I think, Conrad is a great player, either he tries to block RILLET, or if he leaves it alone, it must not be good. By the way, I had less than 20 seconds on my clock, which is really the least blameworthy part of this disaster because that stupid III draw made the last few moves agonizing. Anyway, he plays EDIT, I immediately decide that RILLET can't be good, look for winning plays through EF, of which there are two (RELIEF and LIEFER) that I miss - by the way, I had him mistracked and thought he would score a little more on his outplay, could've checked the tracking during those four or five minutes - then ??think I saw REFIT with a few seconds left and tried to count it?? but just had to slap down TREF with one second left, knowing it would lose. RILLET even wins with a minute of overtime. So, let's recap: a couple sessions of studying a week and I'd be dead certain of stuff like RILLET (and RAVIEST from the Wiegand game) in no time; don't assume your opponent can't have missed a play (or mistracked!); don't be afraid to make a play if it's the only way you can see that you might win. Also don't get into time trouble, but I'm giving myself a pass on that one this time. Taking the horrible decision-making process and the magnitude of the game into account (I wasn't in contention, but just a tournament game against a really good player), I think this is the worst play I've ever made. In fact Conrad missed RILLET, and he sympathetically said that that was one of his worst mistakes ever.
