>JD: BIKSTTU 8G BUIK +20 20
>Michael_Tang: DFNO 9I FOND +27 27
>JD: ALRSTTT I7 T..T +8 28
#note I was pretty happy with this play at the time, but probably I should take the FONDA hook now - ALRST needs vowels on the board to play through.
>Michael_Tang: HTY 9E THY +24 51
>JD: ALORSTU M3 ROTULAS +78 106
>Michael_Tang: AGLMS 8A GLAMS +35 86
>JD: ADELORR E4 ROAD..ER +36 142
#note right idea, but LODESTAR to keep the R is a little better (both leave and not setting up F6)
>Michael_Tang: ?AHIMSS 12B MeSSIAH +90 176
>JD: AILNOOP 5G NOPALI.O +70 212
#note Michael often plays fast. I was lucky to have some straightforward mvoes.
>Michael_Tang: LOPTZ D2 PLOTZ +49 225
>JD: AENOVVX 13A VOX +46 258
>Michael_Tang: CEGIO 14B COGIE +43 268
>JD: AEJNNUV 4H JUN +41 299
#note I saw JUVENAL at B1 and would up agonizing between that and JUN. it's an even game, and I liked the idea of trying to draw a nice -ING bingo to break the deadlock.
>Michael_Tang: DEEI 15F EIDE +17 285
>JD: ABEFINV H1 FEI..A +48 347
>Michael_Tang: EIT 10I .IE +16 301
#note he was powering through the vowels!
>JD: ABNRUVY 4L B.NY +36 383
>Michael_Tang: EEG 13G GEE +17 318
>JD: AIRRTUV B2 VIRTUA. +24 407
#note probably the play that lost me the game. to me, the chance of an -ING bingo seemed most damaging. I can also maximize my chances of drawing the blank by turning over tiles. however, this does leave me vulnerable to pulling the Q and getting outrun if he bingos on row 14. if I play VARY at O1, I keep a U as Q insurance. a look at the bingo stats suggests that most racks that bingo at the top-left also bingo at the bottom-right. also, after VIRTUAL there are only 3 in the bag, so he's more likely to draw an out-play if he bingos. looks like a game-losing mistake in hindsight.
>Michael_Tang: ?DEEINW 14I WIDENEd +80 398
#note michael could pass up a bingo himself here and play AWE at 8H. tough call, but he went for the throat.
>JD: CEENQRW 13K ENEW +28 435
#note this or EWER best. Another reason why VARY looks stronger is that the game requires much more skill for Michael to win. after VARY, with his rack of DEEINW?, he can either bingo on column A to draw the score even and have to play an endgame with 6 tiles on his rack, or play WITHY at 9F for 31 (probably the correct play). After VIRTUAL he just needs to bingo and then find an out-play.
