#player1 Joshua_Sokol Joshua Sokol
#player2 Jackson_Smylie Jackson Smylie
>Joshua_Sokol: AIOPTVX H7 VOX +26 26
#note Unfortunately, I flashed the X by mistake. Not knowing whether Jackson noticed or not, I had to forgo PIVOT, although that's not a great X setup anyway.
>Jackson_Smylie: FRTY 8G F.RTY +11 11
>Joshua_Sokol: ADIMPTW K4 WIMP. +30 56
>Jackson_Smylie: EPRTY 4J T.ERPY +36 47
#note Spoiler alert, I will not make a 4th play in a row ending in Y.
>Joshua_Sokol: AADEIST M2 AI.DATES +72 128
>Jackson_Smylie: ADL O1 LAD. +24 71
>Joshua_Sokol: EIIOSUZ 6K .I.OU +9 137
#note super odd to sacrifice 23 points to keep a more balanced leave, but EISZ responds to just about everything Jackson would want to do to this board, whereas EIOSU can run into some trouble, especially if (M)I(A)OU is blocked, or if a new scoring spot needs addressing after Jackson's play.
>Jackson_Smylie: ?ABILRS N8 RIBALdS +82 153
>Joshua_Sokol: ACEILSZ O8 ACE +33 170
#note now imagine I kept EIOSU. I would be slghtly ahead and possibly prompted to open the board and balance my rack. Instead, I can score and leave my options open. Always look for a different type of play before making a quick decision.
>Jackson_Smylie: GJU 2J JUG. +28 181
>Joshua_Sokol: CHILNSZ 12L ZI.L +28 198
#note Oddly enough, I didn't see ZINC on my rack, so I missed ZINC(S) at 14J, too focused on the fact that I was consonant-heavy and couldn't play ZILCH anywhere. JUG(A) doesn't imply that Jackson has an A, so ZINC(S) is an OK route to take, but then so is ZI(L)L because AN(d) plays on row 13 are a threat.
>Jackson_Smylie: EU I8 .UE +14 195
>Joshua_Sokol: ACHNNOS 11E CHANSON +102 300
#note humongous break
>Jackson_Smylie: EMU 10I .MEU +24 219
>Joshua_Sokol: BDENORT M11 B.O +16 316
#note blocking the S and hoping Jackson plays down the N in CHANSON and gives my TREND leave a place to seal the deal. Given his next play, this had around a 40% chance of happening. Alternatively I could block row 3 with BO for 17, but this allows for Jackson to fork the board on column H if/when he draws an A, while scoring and keeping himself within striking distance.
>Jackson_Smylie: AIOR H11 .ORIA +18 237
>Joshua_Sokol: DENRRTV 14F DR.VEN +16 332
#note the first part of my plan was executed, but Jackson has a few more chances to come back given what I drew.
>Jackson_Smylie: OO F9 OO. +8 245
>Joshua_Sokol: FHILNRT E5 FRITH +27 359
#note Did not consider FLINT for 18, but even though it scores less, I can make up for that by keeping the H, a fantastic scoring tile. I just want to avoid 2 bingos at this point, so scoring 27 now seems more likely to succeed. FILTH sims better than FIRTH or FRITH, which allow 0.03% and 1% more bingos for Jackson respectively. FRITH has a higher std. dev, which is not what I wanted here. I could have taken a few more seconds to overthink this position a tad more to intuit this and I didn't.
>Jackson_Smylie: ?EEEINS 13A SNEEzIE. +72 317
#note Jackson's still got a chance, with spot at 3C and a few spots he has just opened.
>Joshua_Sokol: ADELNNQ A8 ELAND. +27 386
#note I correctly figured out that no bingos fit after this. I saw GOATIE(S)T and WAGGIE(S)T* and figured there might be something else through the S.
>Jackson_Smylie: EEGK D4 GEEK +31 348
#note D12 G(E)E is Jackson's best endgame, setting huge stuff up. Spread was not a factor, so sensibly Jackson didn't waste his energy here when he realized he effectively could not stick me with the Q, which I feared he could when playing ELANDS but figured I could outrun even that.
>Joshua_Sokol: AINQTT B6 QAT +34 420
#note -3 to C10 TIN(E), which forces a weak block of 6B GO(ER) and blocks Jackson's scoring play.
>Jackson_Smylie: GOW B10 WO +28 376
>Joshua_Sokol: INT D12 T.IN +10 430
>Joshua_Sokol: (G) +4 434
