Player 1
#player1 Mike_Johnson Mike Johnson
#player2 Joshua_Sokol Joshua Sokol
>Mike_Johnson: IMNOOSU 8C OMINOUS +74 74
#note after barely beating me in round 1 of the 2013 NSC division 2, Mike is off to a glorious start in our 5-year-old rematch.
>Joshua_Sokol: FILNOOT 9B OF +18 18
#note I broke Josh's rule number 1. Your opponent always has an O. Even if he's already played 2 and I have 2 (that's half of the O's in the whole set already), he will still have an O. Better is 9C FON or 9C FINO, or 9F OF for 20. This does however sim best
>Mike_Johnson: DEOTT A8 TOTED +30 104
#note smh
>Joshua_Sokol: AILNOTW 7D ALOW +28 46
#note he held this for a bit
>Mike_Johnson: ABLLO F2 BALLO.. +17 121
>Joshua_Sokol: EIJNRRT 6B JIN +31 77
#note 3E R(A)J is an option to maximize bingo chances, however it seems to set up too big of a scoring spot. Once I bingo, I'm still going to be well behind.
>Mike_Johnson: ADERSTZ 4F .IQUIDEr +104 225
>Mike_Johnson: ADERSTZ -- -104 121
>Joshua_Sokol: DEERRTX 3C RET.X +40 117
#note can't really block DISQUIET here, hope he misses it and makes a bad play. I'm in really bad shape. G1 REX looks a bit better
>Mike_Johnson: ?DEIIQU A1 lIQUID +60 181
#note oh wow he also has 9s at E7
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEGIRR 5E G.ADIER +36 153
>Mike_Johnson: IRV D1 VI.R +22 203
>Joshua_Sokol: AAENNPR 4H APNEA +28 181
>Mike_Johnson: EGGLY B11 LEGGY +25 228
>Joshua_Sokol: AENRTUV 13B .UV +14 195
#note K3 N(ER)VATURE was missed. Probably wouldn't have tried it anyway, as I didn't feel so desperate at this point. But wow.
>Mike_Johnson: EOZ 15A O.EZ +78 306
#note wow
>Joshua_Sokol: AENRSTT 6I TEN +18 213
#note wanted to score a bit here but was getting increasingly frustrated. Fishing off the T might be better because I need two bingos anyway.
>Mike_Johnson: HO 9G OH +18 324
>Joshua_Sokol: AARST D11 TA. +12 225
#note I don't have my leave here. It's possible I missed (B)EARCATS
>Mike_Johnson: AIR E10 AIR +12 336
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ACERSW F10 WE +29 254
#note Thinking I had missed BEARCATS last turn because I missed (B)ECRAWlS this turn. APNEA does take an L, I don't remember what my final decision was on that, but I remember thinking of it when I played APNEAL. M3 ClAWERS is the play certainly.
>Mike_Johnson: EP 7J PE +14 350
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AABCRS M2 CASBARs +80 334
#note This was an extremely difficult turn. I was pretty sure he was sitting on something, and I saw SCARABS, but was not 100%. I figured this would have similar winning chances and created lanes harder to get rid of, so as to enforce more errors on Mike's part. I could then threaten to outscore or bingo and steal the game away. But maybe SCARABs would be enough to win
>Mike_Johnson: CEK 2F .ECK +21 371
#note he held for a long time and then accepted
>Joshua_Sokol: DEFINNS 3L F.N +11 345
#note very fortunate he allowed me to play off two tiles here.

I think he definitely has another E and probably the I, so fishing off the F probably won't work, I was hoping I could complicate things enough that he would miss my bingo or something like that, since he seemed to have mistracked iirc. Perhaps if he played something weak I could win in the endgame. Dunno.
>Mike_Johnson: EIRSTUY O1 RUSTY +34 405
#note the surest win is O3 SURETY, but this works too
>Joshua_Sokol: DEHIMNS N6 MEHNDIS +89 434
#note actually it doesn't work sorry I win
>Joshua_Sokol: (IE) +4 438
#note stolen. I played very sharply for most of the game, but made two mistakes that forced me to have to steal the win. Lucky to pull off this stunt against this particular opponent, who is known to have gone 20-0 in his tournament right before 2013 Nationals.
