#player2 Dave_Wiegand Dave Wiegand
>James_Curley: BIKOOPR 8H BROOK +32 32
#note Round 5 of the National Scrabble Championship 2018, Buffalo NY. This was a fun game.

This placement had me thinking of what the three letter extensions to BROOK would be.
>Dave_Wiegand: AWZ 9K WAZ +36 36
#note they are -ITE, -ING, -LET, -IES but after WAZ I stopped caring about that.
>James_Curley: EEIOPPT 10E EPITOPE +79 111
>Dave_Wiegand: MORW 11I WORM +41 77
>James_Curley: ?EEENOT 12L EE +12 123
#note I took ages on this move, I was sure I missed bingos but did not. Quackle prefers 11E EE but I'm not sure why - unless it's to block the double-double lane. I liked this placement as it gave me more bingo lane options.
>Dave_Wiegand: AEGHILU I1 LAUGHIE. +64 141
#note only bingo
>James_Curley: ?ENOOTU 5E OUTs.ONE +90 213
#note best. There's no triple-triple.
>Dave_Wiegand: FIII 1G FI.II +24 165
>James_Curley: DEIJNRR 6B JIRD +31 244
#note My play sims very close with 4A JERID. Perhaps I was too cautious in not playing JERID for 14 more points.
>Dave_Wiegand: ?IINSTV 13G INVITeS +86 251
>James_Curley: AENNRST C1 TRANN.ES +68 312
#note prefered this to either placement of TANNERS. Quackle slightly prefers 14A TANNERS.
>Dave_Wiegand: EGILRSU 11A LIGURES +76 327
>James_Curley: CDDLSVY L3 DY.D +18 330
#note My first blah move of the game. This is much worse than the best plays of 3H C(U)DDLY or G9 V(IS)C(I)D. I forgive myself for not spotting VISCID, but CUDDLY should be an automatic spot. I considered 2I (A)DDY also.
>Dave_Wiegand: AACO A8 COA.A +24 351
>James_Curley: CGLLSTV B10 G.LLS +29 359
#note lucky to have this spot. I prefer GILTS though given the CL synergy in the leave and that there is one more T in the bag and zero L's.
>Dave_Wiegand: AEH 1A EA.H +33 384
>James_Curley: ACENQTV 2B T.ANQ +77 436
#note very lucky to have this spot too. Dave said afterwards he should have considered a Q play there.
>Dave_Wiegand: TX 6H T.X +52 436
>James_Curley: ACEEORV 4A VA.E +22 458
#note n't Scrabble101 - do not empty the bag. Especially against a player of Dave's calibre. He had 10 minutes after this move to work out his endgame sequence. I was at about 3 minutes on my clock and perhaps played too fast. I was very concerned with a big scoring play from A4 and being left with a V on this board. I couldn't come up with a good one tile play to leave one in the bag.

Quackle doesn't hate my play giving me 64% win after this play. The better plays are all at 9F. OVA or OCA. These are at 75% and 73% win.

As it turned out, Dave had only one winning play after this given his rack - see if you can spot it.
>Dave_Wiegand: BDEFMNU 14D BUMF +22 458
#note Dave took 9 minutes of his 10 minutes left on this play. Afterward he told me that he spotted the winning sequence within about 2 minutes but recounted the game to make sure that it was the winning play. Chapeau to Dave - great play.
>James_Curley: ACEORY 15C CORY +24 482
#note CORY, AYRE or EYRA are all best from 15C and all lose by 1.
>Dave_Wiegand: DEN 12D NED +21 479
>Dave_Wiegand: (AE) +4 483
