>Randy_Hersom: IQ 8G QI +22 22
>Jim_Burlant: ADHLSTY 7H THY +15 15
#note Reasonable, but perhaps not best. Q prefers that I burn the S with DASHY I6 for 25. Regardless, this worked out.
>Randy_Hersom: DDENOPS J4 DOP. +16 38
#note Actual rack - I blocked DESPOND with THY.
>Jim_Burlant: AADJLSU 4H JU.AS +42 57
#note At least for 42 points I don't have a problem burning all the ammo. This is best. For reference - JOUAL 5I is runner up, and that wins 4% less often at an equity deficit of almost 7 points.
>Randy_Hersom: DEMNS K3 D.ME +26 64
>Jim_Burlant: AAADLOT 5E ALTO +17 74
#note Not thrilled about keeping duplicated A's, but I wanted to reduce the likelihood of plays through the J, which this does. Not sure why I couldn't think of DATO, but this is best. ALTO doesn't have vowel placement issues at 6F, which DATO does. At any rate, better buckle up and fasten your seatbelts:
>Randy_Hersom: EIILNRS 9G INLIERS +75 139
#note Best bingo for Randy.
>Jim_Burlant: ?AABCDH L7 HA.DBACk +82 156
#note After spending a couple of minutes I almost gave up and played BRACH...and I'm glad I didn't. I eventually found this, and it's the only playable bingo. Back in the game, just over 51% to win in a short sim. If you miss the bingo, BRACH F8 is best of the rest.
>Randy_Hersom: ERZ 4C REZ +35 174
>Jim_Burlant: AEENRST 15G EARNEST +91 247
#note Or NEAREST in the same location.
>Randy_Hersom: EGIINTU C1 INT.IGUE +70 244
>Jim_Burlant: AEFILNT D6 INFLATE +92 339
#note The I on row 1 is one column too far to the left, so I don't have anything on row 1. This is clearly best. 90% to win.
>Randy_Hersom: KUY 13J YU.K +26 270
>Jim_Burlant: AEEMORX E9 OXER +39 378
#note FAIL. How on earth do I not see OXIME 1A?!?!? Even AXIOM is much better than this.
>Randy_Hersom: DOV 1A VO.D +30 300
>Jim_Burlant: AEEIMOP B4 PO +21 399
#note I don't have any huge plays. I see three threats: the A column from the V, row 14, and the B column with bingoes starting in R making REF. Given all that, I thought it too likely that if I defended one column he could hit on the other. Being unsure of the threat, I felt the best course of action was to set up the case M so as to hit down the A column on hte next turn. A sim confirms that this was the wrong execution of the right idea. APO B3 would have not only scored 3 more, but it would have unloaded the extra vowel - essential given my vowel overloaded rack. This still wins 95%, but that's about to change.
>Randy_Hersom: ?BIINOR 14B vIBRION +74 374
>Jim_Burlant: AEEEIMO 11J MA.E +16 415
#note A slight rack mistake onj the previous turn...compounded by the absolute worst case draw on the replenish. I spent forever here because I had no clue. I didn't like M column plays like EASE or plays like 2B ENEMA; he's just drawn a bunch from the bag and those plays give back enough for me to lose the game. The only bingo threat is row 2, which is not the easiest to hit, and the board is otherwise dead. I thought the best tack was to take a handful of points and not open anything dangerous. Quackle disagrees, feeling that I should play 2B ENEMA. Had I done that, I'd have lost this game. Maybe EE(K) if I had this to do again, but this pool is consonant overloaded so I'm not worried about about keeping this many vowels.
>Randy_Hersom: AAEGRST 8L .A +4 378
#note Actual rack.
>Jim_Burlant: EEFGIOW 3K .EW +16 431
#note The trick here is to figure out how to add resistance without creating an easy-to-hit lane for him. Hence, this. It's not airtight, but it does require him to either have the S in the third position or have the S in the second position while the word ends in L. Quackle goes out the window on this turn for the above reasons. Play misscored as 18.
>Randy_Hersom: AEGRSTW 10C W.. +13 391
>Jim_Burlant: EFGILNO C13 F.G +14 445
#note Getting late and getting more and more tired. Still staying away from row 2 in order to not open anything up. Not sure how I missed OF 13F, though.
>Randy_Hersom: AEGRST 8A TR.. +21 412
#note Post-mortem, Randy realized his mistake. The killer play that would have swung the game in his favor would have been REF for 6 instead of this. I was way low on time. The pool unseen to me was OUTRAGES, and I would have had to figure out how to block his obvious T front hook and then figure out what to do on this board with my V, C, etc. w/o vowels. This gifted me the win.
>Jim_Burlant: CEILNOV 2L LOVE +22 467
>Randy_Hersom: AEGOSU 1A ....AGES +39 451
#note Serously down on time, I noticed an extension and just thought he had made a good play. I hadn't noticed this until after the game; that's what happens when you burn your time to the nub and you're under a minute.
>Jim_Burlant: CIN O1 N. +6 473
#note Down at 15 seconds by now. Best looks to be 7C UNCI. Final score recorded as 475 - 467.
>Randy_Hersom: OU 3A OU. +8 459
>Randy_Hersom: (CI) +8 467
