>Thomas_Reinke: DEGJU 8D JUDGE +44 44
#note Here's where things start to heat up.
>Jack_Overby: DEEEHNZ D8 .EEZE +42 42
#note F3 HEEZED 39 is a shade better.
>Thomas_Reinke: LY D8 .....LY +26 70
#note Fancy!
>Jack_Overby: ADGHLNO 10C H.ADLONG +71 113
#note Always a pleasure to bingo with an ES?-less rack.
>Thomas_Reinke: ACINOTW 11B NA.I +35 105
#note Thomas told me he needed an S for WAINSCOT. This sims a bit behind 14A COWY 24 and 11J OW 13, but I don't blame him for taking the Z spot.
>Jack_Overby: ADEIIOO I6 IODI.E +25 138
#note Clearly best.
>Thomas_Reinke: CIOTTUW H1 OUTWIT +41 146
>Jack_Overby: AIIKORT 14D .AKITORI +77 215
#note As soon as I laid down YAK, Thomas knew what was coming and gave a wry smile. Glad to play one of the two AIIKRTY? chicken brothers!
>Thomas_Reinke: AACILRS 9C A. +10 156
#note As fishy as it gets, but he missed a 9!
>Jack_Overby: ACEOORW 13I WOOER +37 252
#note Comfortably best. There's no way he can really hit row 15.
>Thomas_Reinke: ACEILRS 15I ECLAIRS +94 250
#note Corrected, stand I!
>Jack_Overby: ABCMMTU E5 MUM. +16 268
#note A tough position, with no clear best option. I considered J4 MAC 24, which sims best, but I didn't like my prospects with BMTU in a close game on a bingo-friendly board. An interesting suggestion is B7 BUM 12, which sets up CAM for a nice score on column A. MUMU sims a few % points behind (31% vs 33%).
>Thomas_Reinke: ?EEGLST O8 ELEGiST. +74 324
#note The fireworks continue.
>Jack_Overby: ABCEINT N2 CABINET +78 346
#note I certainly would have preferred that O8 spot, but no complaints after drawing into a bingo with an ABCT leave! Surprisingly, the N4 spot, despite scoring one less, sims almost 2% better (once again, 33% vs 31%).
>Thomas_Reinke: HNTX 3L TH.N +14 338
#note Interesting...
>Jack_Overby: ABINQUY F2 QUAY +43 389
#note A seemingly straightforward move, but with several mitigating factors, i.e. that big ol X spot at J6. I didn't fully grasp the ramifications of this move until right after the game. It became very clear to me that Charles was absolutely guaranteed to have the X; otherwise, he would have simply played J5 NTH for 18 to score 4 more points and block the spot. He was obviously fishing for vowels to try to hit J6 vertically. So I really should be blocking this. That said, what can I do? I have no good blocking plays, and I can't afford to turn down 43 points. I basically have to let him have his 50 and hope to bingo prontissimo. A sim puts 12K BY 30 as best by about 3% (55 vs 52). I didn't even consider it, but AINQU is fairly potent, with B6 QUIN 36 guaranteed, and chances to hit row 3 or column L with a good draw.
>Thomas_Reinke: ERX J4 REX +52 390
#note As Simon Cowell once said, "Well there's the surprise of the century."
>Jack_Overby: AABDINS B3 INDABAS +65 454
#note Once again, my AB+ leave turns right into a bingo. I slapped INDABAS down with a shrug and a declaration of "YOLO". However, in my haste, I missed L3 TABANIDS for 74. The numbers are a bit odd; a sim names TABANIDS the clear winner (91 vs 83), while CP gives INDABAS the definitive edge (92 vs 89). Not sure which one to trust. Either way, the two bingos are clearly best. It's now or never for Charles.
>Thomas_Reinke: ?OOPRSV L2 S.OPOVeR +74 464
#note Make that "now". His only bingo, and a nice find. I challenged to no avail. As it turns out, TABANIDS wouldn't have helped, as Thomas would have played PROVoST for 72 at B3.
>Thomas_Reinke: (EFFNPRV) +36 500
#note Hell of a game! Short but sweet. My first game with both sides averaging 50 (albeit barely).
