>Chris_Guilbert: EJLRU 8D JUREL +40 40
>Jim_Burlant: ACEEEPS I7 ESCAPEE +79 79
#note This also plays at 7H for 65. This is clearly best. 57% to win...but not for long.
>Chris_Guilbert: ?BEEIOS 14C EBOnIES +70 110
#note 14D EBONISE scores 74.
>Jim_Burlant: AADIORT F1 RADIATO. +63 142
#note Only bingo. 55% to win.
>Chris_Guilbert: ADIQ 15A QADI +53 163
>Jim_Burlant: IINNOWZ 13A WIZ +56 198
#note The only other play worth considering is IONIZ(E) J10, which scores 50, but still saddles me with the W. This scores 56 and is clearly best.
>Chris_Guilbert: AEFGLOS 4C FOL.AGES +78 241
#note Cut that out!!!
>Jim_Burlant: EIINNOP 1F .IPIENO +30 228
#note No bingoes play but best is apparently PERNIO 1D (which I didn't know) or 3A OPINED 3A. Then again, given his rack it wouldn't have really mattered:
>Chris_Guilbert: ?AELRTU M1 sALUTER +73 314
#note He hemmed and hawed before putting this down, as I had blocked his impending ULTRARED 3x3 on row 1.
>Jim_Burlant: EEHILNV 12H H.LVE +30 258
#note I saw the N6 placement but didn't like it - too dangerous. Everything here wins 9.6 - 10-1/2%.
>Chris_Guilbert: ENNY D8 .ENNY +30 344
>Jim_Burlant: ADEHINX N5 AX +52 310
#note FAIL. Trailing by 86, this is a mistake I might not make if there are still 6 E's unseen. But we're not even in the 4th quarter and I'm already holding the case E with the blanks already played. Being protective of my E, I deliberately rejected N4 HEX for 61 as I felt that 50 followed by a bingo would be enough. That said, if I looked more closely at the board, I would have realized that HEXAD played at 2J for 72 and I wouldn't have needed to worry about building a bingo rack. This is a major mistake, and not just because it gives up 20 scoreboard points. It opens up O1 and gives him a chance to turn some tiles if he's got a crappy rack. HEXAD wins 26-1/2%. AX wins just shy of 20 and sims 10 points down. While I'm still an underdog even if I do find HEXAD, this mistake may have cost me whatever remaining chance I had at this game.
>Chris_Guilbert: GORTU O1 GROUT +24 368
>Jim_Burlant: DEHINVW 3A VIEW +35 345
#note I tried my best to hold onto the E...but the WV draw forces my hand. This is best. VIN leaves me too consonant heavy and concedes too much on the scoreboard.
>Chris_Guilbert: AFT 15F AFT +30 398
>Jim_Burlant: DDHMNOO J10 HO.D +36 381
#note OR HOLM in the same location. 13% to win.
>Chris_Guilbert: BIKS M10 BISK +32 430
>Jim_Burlant: DMNORRU 2J MOR. +26 407
#note Too bad I didn't notice this spot when I had the X. It's this or MURA or DUMA in the same spot.
>Chris_Guilbert: ITY A1 TI.Y +42 472
>Jim_Burlant: ADMNORU A8 UNDRA. +33 440
#note Another telltale example of how things go when it's not your tournament. Chris held this, but wisely let it go when he realized that if he lost a challenge, he would lose the game. In a good tournament, this play comes 3 or 4 turns earlier when he might be inclined to challenge.
>Chris_Guilbert: CGNNT 9C G.N +8 480
>Jim_Burlant: MO 3I MO +20 460
