#player1 Rob_Robinsky Rob Robinsky
#player2 Jesse_Day Jesse Day
>Rob_Robinsky: AEILLPR 8D PERILLA +74 74
#note Rob: Slightly lazy here - PALLIER is slightly better to not place an S hook on the board.
>Jesse_Day: EHINSWY E4 WHIN.Y +30 30
#note JD: never seen NEWISHLY before!
>Rob_Robinsky: ABDEELT 6B DEL.BATE +71 145
#note Rob: Slightly favored over DEALBATE.
>Jesse_Day: BEFGOST D1 BEGO +30 60
#note JD: Q thinks this play is terrible. I was reluctant to play BEFOG at 5G because I felt that it blocked my own bingo lanes, but FST cripples the leave so much (10.5 to 3.9) that this is a Bad Idea (though not quite as bad as Q thinks). I would trade a few extra points on his end for more bingos on mine, but after BEGO my bingo % is 22% versus 34% after BEFOG, so this was just counterproductive.
>Rob_Robinsky: CEEMTUV 2A CUV.T +20 165
>Rob_Robinsky: CEEMTUV -- -20 145
#note Rob: When in doubt, don't be silly and disregard the two perfectly valid plays you see in order to try to play a phony that isn't seen outside of a chemistry lab - a lab full of lazy spellers, for that matter.
>Jesse_Day: ?DFNSTU C2 FUD +32 92
#note JD: I saw DEFUNCTS, but passed it up; I have the potential to draw much bigger bingos on this board like column K double-doubles or something from the B. I did miss an opportunity by not playing UNFED at C3; with CTUV on his rack it's likely tough for him to play from the B, and so I'd get a free shot at a triple-triple. I think I chose FUD to maximize my chances of hitting column K, but UNFED is clearly better.
>Rob_Robinsky: CEEMTUV G5 C.V.E +15 160
#note Rob: Why does my brain sometimes actively refuse to work? This doesn't even do anything constructive against the good rack I inferred Jesse to have. What a horror show of two turns.
>Jesse_Day: QT J7 Q.T +12 104
#note JD: no way I'm burning the blank here as Q kinda wants, I want to ideally draw a double-double and not just catch up but pull ahead
>Rob_Robinsky: AEHMTTU 1D .ATHE +30 190
#note Rob: BAHUT is pretty clearly best here. I know the word, just didn't come up with it. Fighting to stay off tilt didn't help with that, honestly.
>Jesse_Day: ?AEINOS K5 ANISOlE +97 201
#note Rob: It took a while for Jesse to get there, but I thoroughly deserved this result.
>Rob_Robinsky: EEIMSTU L11 MEU +14 204
#note Rob: This performs better than I expected it to in the sim, but Quackle slightly prefers to retain the M. Its favorite way to do so is 9C UEY.
>Jesse_Day: ?EGLSVY L2 GYVE +24 225
#note JD: ooh I got the other blank. the only 8 in this rack is SAVAGELY. this is a bit inaccurate, I should be playing VLY. My general inclination is to think that exact leave matters less holding the blank, but in this case there are a ton of Is and Ns in the pool and only 3 Es, and I can lower my variance a bit by keeping EGS? instead of LS?.
>Rob_Robinsky: AEIOSTT M7 OATIEST +79 283
>Jesse_Day: ?AAKLST N1 TALuKAS +76 301
>Jesse_Day: GINORRR (challenge) +5 306
#note Rob: Nice find by Jesse.
>Rob_Robinsky: AEINOUW O1 OW +26 309
#note Rob: This is best, but I'm in pretty rough shape at this point.
>Jesse_Day: GINORRR 2A RI..R +18 324
#note JD: given my poor post-bingo draw, this game looks like a tossup from my end. I also had blown a lot of time (unnecessarily) on my FUD move and didn't have a ton of time to figure out the best path forward. I have none of the key tiles for this board (E or an S), but with all the Is unseen I felt that GNOR had some potential to balance into a reasonable leave.
>Rob_Robinsky: AEIMNUU A1 A.UM +27 336
#note Rob: Jesse and I seem to have opposite problems right now. That R is a godsend for me, though.
>Jesse_Day: GNNOORR I1 RONG +17 341
#note JD: I don't know why I didn't stay the course with my original plan of drawing an I to go with -NG. I think I saw PORNO after I hit my clock. this sims fine but feels like a mistake. Another option would be NOR at O4 to block a big scoring spot that I can't hit right now, but then I probably have to pull the S for MEUS to win.
>Rob_Robinsky: AEFINOU J2 FOU +32 368
#note Rob: Once again, my draw was a bit difficult but my rack happens to come together to offer the perfect counter to Jesse's play.
>Jesse_Day: CINNORZ 10F CRON +23 364
#note JD: ideally I'd threaten some kind of Z play.
>Rob_Robinsky: AEIINPX 7A NIX +38 406
#note Rob: I was starting to get a bit low on time, so it was difficult to try to work out the various pathways the preendgame was likely to take. I expected Jesse to have the S at this point, and aside from the J and Z the pool looks pretty favorable for him even if he only draws two vowels.
>Jesse_Day: DEIINOZ 6N .D +3 367
#note JD: although the position is tantalizing, he blocked the only surefire opportunity I could see, which was fishing the D at O6 and threatening DEIONIZE at B6 and O6. Failing that, I'm playing in the hope that he mistracks, or somehow misses the possibility of DEIONIZE at O6. I can draw OOZIER or IODIZES or IONIZES, but they seem to always be blockable because I can't create a second spot.
>Rob_Robinsky: ADEIJPR 13K J.. +10 416
#note Rob: A number of plays that block MEUS will win here; this is second best to J11 DIRE. Being short on time, I simply was satisfied that the simplest solution to blocking IONIZES was also the glaringly obvious one.
>Jesse_Day: EIINOSZ 14J ZO +40 407
#note JD: very wrong because it sets up PARDIE! should play NIB at F4 this turn
>Rob_Robinsky: ADEIPR 15H PEAR +39 455
>Jesse_Day: EIINS O4 NI.ES +32 439
>Rob_Robinsky: DI I13 ID. +18 473
>Rob_Robinsky: (I) +2 475
#note Rob: Given my hiccups early in the game, it's tough to say that I deserved to win this one. Jesse ended up a minute over time, so the final score was 475-429.
