#player1 Carl Carl
#player2 Darrell Darrell
>Carl: ADEMSTU 8G DUM +12 12
#note In retrospect, I don't see why I didn't play MUD. I guess I was just feeling dumb that afternoon. (-2)
>Darrell: AHI 9G AHI +22 22
>Carl: ?AAEOST I3 AzOTE..AS +62 74
#note There are actually 4 bingos playable through MI here. AZOTEMIAS is best positionally.
>Darrell: EGI J10 GIE +17 39
>Carl: ABBEJNO K9 JOB +38 112
#note I was ready to play JOB H1, but I think this has to be better. GIE looks very fishy to me, and could hit a really big 2x2.
>Darrell: DEEIRRT 13D RETIRED +66 105
>Carl: AABEENX H12 B.AE +27 139
>Darrell: AOZ H1 ZOA +38 143
>Carl: AEINNXY 6D ANXIE.Y +41 180
#note I had trouble deciding between ANXIETY, NIXY 10D, and IXNAY 12A. IXNAY wins the sim by 3.
>Darrell: ITW D12 W.IT +16 159
>Carl: CFGGNVV -CFGGNVV +0 180
>Darrell: DIU 7D DUI +18 177
>Carl: EIILNPS 15A PIN. +18 198
#note PINTLE 15A is better for the board, neutralizing bingo options on Row 15. (-4)
>Darrell: EKR 14B KE.R +32 209
>Carl: EEILPST 10A PELITES +67 265
>Darrell: AEGIMNT B3 GEMINAT. +63 272
>Carl: FFOOOOU A6 OOF +37 302
#note Miraculously, I am able to play through this atrocious rack and score well by it. Ironically, if Darrell had felt lucky enough to play GEMINATE 15G, I would have been in a terrible situation.
>Darrell: DORY 3B .RODY +20 292
>Carl: ?EFOOTU 4D FOO +30 332
>Darrell: ESV L11 SEV +18 310
>Carl: ?EHLLTU 15G H.LL +7 339
#note My reasoning here was that I have a small lead on a tight board, in possession of the blank, with a dreadfully consonant-heavy bag. The only way I can lose is if Darrell somehow has a bingo, and row 15 is the only place for it. Quackle goes with PULL A10 or HM 5A (-14?)
>Darrell: ANR 5H R.AN +15 325
>Carl: ?ELNNTU 4K UN +6 345
#note Quackle plays VULN 13L here, and is certainly wrong to do so. From my perspective, Darrell was probably setting up QUAGS L1, which I am in a poor position to block. UN *seems* to do the trick, but imagine my surprise when I now draw the Q.
>Darrell: AGRSUVW 3K RAW +17 342
#note An amazing position! The only way Darrell can win is by fishing off the W and drawing either ? or E for SEVRUGA. I can't block it without sticking myself with the Q. That said, there are wins for Darrell if he plays GUV and I play suboptimally in the endgame. With the exact rack I drew, my only win is to burn the blank with Qi 9D instead of the more conventional QI D9.
>Carl: ?CELNQT L1 CL.. +9 354
#note This was one of my favorite plays of the tournament, and I have Avery to thank for it. Ever since I missed CINQ to lose a game to him, I mentally ask myself whether CINQ is playable. This time it definitely is, and Darrell can't touch it.
>Darrell: CGSUV 9K .UG +13 355
>Carl: ?ENQT 1L .iNQ +42 396
>Darrell: CSV 9K ...S +12 367
>Carl: ET 9B .E +6 402
#note Best.
>Darrell: CV - +0 367
>Carl: T 8A ..T +9 411
>Carl: (CV) +14 425
#note Quackle says: Bag wasn't empty or tiles drawn out of order
