#note 12A YEAN is substantially better. -8
>Keith: IIII -IIII +0 156
>Carl: AEHILST 15A LATHIES. +95 243
>Keith: EX 12C EX +41 197
>Carl: EIILSTZ N6 ZIT +34 277
#note This was one of my favorite positions in the tournament! There are some enormous plays at 13C, but this looked like an opportunity to dramatically close the board with a solid lead. Many of Keith's plays on row 13 constrict the board even more. Quackle hates this move, but I still think I'm right. How does Keith come back after this?
>Keith: Q 7M Q. +21 218
#note Even better!
>Carl: AEIILSU 14B LIE +17 294
#note 13C SEI wins the sim, but I'm not entirely convinced. Now the board is dead to bingos-- just as intended-- and I aim to keep it that way.
>Keith: ELR D8 REL.. +13 231
>Carl: AEIIRSU 8A URA.I +15 309
#note The only option worth considering. Disappointed that the board didn't stay closed.
>Keith: FY C7 F.Y +26 257
>Carl: DEIORRS B6 DI.ER +23 332
>Keith: AGT 7I TAG +14 271
>Carl: BKNORSW K5 BO. +12 344
#note I'm on the right track, but WOG is even better, setting up KOB. I played too fast, trying to force Keith into time trouble.
>Keith: IP 8L PI.. +20 291
>Carl: DKNORSW 6J K.R +33 377
#note I don't understand how NOW L4 sims 6% better than any other play. That's just asking for trouble.
>Keith: AIIN O3 INIA +16 307
#note Just because ZIT worked exactly as intended doesn't make it necessarily right. In another universe, Keith blank-bingos after URARI, draws the other blank, and hits me with that too.
>Carl: DEGNOSW 6B .OWNED +23 400
#note I didn't look too hard at whether Keith has a bingo ending with I. There's nothing I can do about it since it plays in two spots. So long as this outruns whatever it is, I'm happy.
>Keith: ??ENSTU 9L ES +20 327
#note From Keith's final rack, I'd say ZIT paid off pretty well-- this time, anyway. If we played it a thousand times, I wonder whether something on row 13 would win more often.
>Carl: AGS N1 SAG +11 411
>Carl: (??NTU) +6 417
