>JD: AEEGNNV 8H GANEV +26 26
#note interesting opening rack. GANEV performs worse than I had anticipated, about 5 points off of AVENGE, and also noticeably worse than VENGE and even GENEVA. The reason: after GANEV, he can score with a 3-tile overlap and leave me very little, whereas the other plays create multiple spots for me to score (my expected points per turn is about 2 lower after GANEV than the other plays). but most simply, don't give back a cheap overlap if you don't have to!
>Chris_Lipe: AEHIN L8 .AHINE +24 24
>JD: BEGMNOU M9 GENOM +42 68
#note not exactly an all-star leave, but sims even with GUMBO at K11 which looks terrifying
>Chris_Lipe: AKNPR N7 PRANK +32 56
>JD: ABLOORU M3 BUROO +21 89
#note I wasn't sure enough about BINK to take K11. but even if I'm not, that spot is scary enough that I should drop OOR there just to block.
>Chris_Lipe: MUU 7H UMU +20 76
>JD: AAALSST O11 SALAT +26 115
#note best is TASSA at 14J - cool word I didn't know
>Chris_Lipe: EEFGIT O3 GIFTEE +44 120
>JD: ACDIQSV 14J QIS +45 160
>Chris_Lipe: DEIW 15H WEID +38 158
>JD: ?ACDLTV 6G CLAD +28 188
#note would definitely be better than VAT if not for both Ys being unseen; pretty much even otherwise.
>Chris_Lipe: TW 11J TW.... +26 184
>JD: ?AEIOTV 12D VIOlATE +72 260
#note I actually missed a good chance to prevent counter-bingos by not finding OBVIATE at 10D. I was getting low on time and wanted to get this play down quickly, but that would've made it a lot harder for chris to bingo.
>Chris_Lipe: AEEOPRT 9B OPERATE +68 252
>JD: ?IINSYZ F3 SIZY +43 303
#note Q kinda likes YIN at 10B because he never bingos afterwards, but I'm OK with playing the percentages and keeping the board open. After YIN he could hit a big play on column O even without the blank, and I'd then be trying to play catchup. there's also not that many great spots for the Z on this board.
>Chris_Lipe: DLOU 8A LOUD +32 284
>JD: ?FILNNY 7C YIN +26 329
#note I was very concerned about getting beaten by continuing to miss a bingo and chris playing a big X play, but I don't have a great block for 10F. Instead I tried to leave OOF open so I can fish again next turn if I miss and still keep up on score
>Chris_Lipe: DHI 10F HID +37 321
#note high-scoring, but also a huge relief that he didn't have the X. maybe he should find a way to keep this spot open if he can?
>JD: ?AFJLNR L1 FLAN +30 359
#note I'm effectively giving up on bingoing here and just planning to outrun. to do this, I'm blocking big X plays at L4. I also considered burning the blank with BRINJAL, which saves the F so I can score at 10B next turn.
>Chris_Lipe: BE 5D BE. +28 349
>JD: ?IJOORR 3B ROJI. +24 383
#note best endgame, sets up a huge spot for NORI that he needs to block
>Chris_Lipe: CEERSTX 2H EXCE. +20 369
>JD: ?OR 4C nOR. +34 417
>JD: (RST) +6 423
