>Ben_Schoenbrun: ABELORY O4 BE.RY +39 105
>Jack_Norman: DEFNOSZ K5 F.OZEN +36 210
#note ZONED wins the 3 ply sim a little over F(RO)ZEN but I love how F(R)OZEN blocks both 2x2s and other bingo lanes while scoring and keeping the S.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: ALLOORT L8 ATOLL +28 133
>Jack_Norman: DEIKOTU D8 .OKED +37 247
#note For some reason i forgot JOUK was a verb :/, which is really, really too bad. (J)OUKED is eons better because of the points, the leave, and the blocking of (CURATION)S.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: EGIOQRW C11 WOG +22 155
>Jack_Norman: DDEIOTU E11 TED +24 271
#note EDDO is really nice since it scores well, doesn't take an S, and makes column B hard to hit. I hadn't seen it, but I think I prefer it. After EDDO I can block column B by playing B12, and even if he bingoes there before I can block it, it would be ~70 max, and I should be able to score well on column A.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: EGHINQR M3 REH.NG +35 190
#note this is a nice play, though I am happy to see it block column N. (A)RGH M6 is nice too.
>Jack_Norman: DEIOTUV J9 VOTED +22 293
#note I was tempted to play VIED L1 or VOID J9 keeping one of the few remaining Es. But there are 4 Ss and 2 blanks out, so I really want to block (CURATION)S, and go through more tiles, and the Q is out so IU is not as horrible. And, on an unfriendly bingo board, I don't have to bingo, I just need to keep scoring. Column J is a lane itself so VOTED takes out 2 of the 3 available lanes, both of which are going to hit harder than the R of REHANG.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: FIIIPQS 14A QIS +32 222
#note This is a really nice play since he holds 3 of the last 5 Is, sets up IF, and it's hard for me to block if I don't have an I.
>Jack_Norman: ?INOOSU A14 .I +33 326
>Ben_Schoenbrun: CFIILMP D2 FILM +22 244
>Jack_Norman: ?NOOSSU C2 OS +13 339
#note I don't know rOS(I)NOUS, sadly. If I know and find it, I'll still need to decide if it's the right move, strategically, since giving up a 3x3 is one sure way to lose this game, while I can play more conservatively and win without bingoing, up 80. Q doesn't like rOS(I)NOUS at all; it likes SOUS 14E. I'm at 99% to win lol, jeez I f'd this game up. I spent a long time on this turn and was starting to feel the time pressure. OS actually sims okay. UN(FROZEN) is a pretty cool play.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: ACEIPPS 1A CAP +26 270
#note keeping the second P for PSI.
>Jack_Norman: ?NOSUUY G12 YOU +15 354
#note Sorry Scrabble gods for this joke of a play. The common theme in 3 games that I completely gave away this tournament was time. I forget where my clock was now, maybe down to 2 minutes and played this in haste, with that feeling of "uh uh uh, this?! go, go, I hope i don't get killed by this..". All of a sudden I was worried that a bingo from the C would tie us up but I had no great way of blocking the C. Somehow I came to the conclusion that YOU was somehow correct. If I block the C, then even if he bingoes to the R of REHANG, I should be able to outrun. I think i was under the impression that if he bingoes and I don't, I'll lose... or something? Uuuugh. Oh, not to mention that i had bingo here: (SI)NUOUSlY... that would have been awesome. (C)ONY doesn't block all bingoes; in fact, he would still have ALIPEDS, etc. Maybe just (C)OY. CP likes (other than sinuously at 100% of course) YU(A)N I4. But like, I hate that play because if he bingoes from the C for 80, we're literally tied up. Same with UN(FROZEN). To be fair, YOU sims at 94% to win. 2351 itr 3ply sim had UN(FROZEN) at 97.2, exch OUUY at 96.85, (C)OY at 96.41, and YU(A)NS at 96.33. If he bingoes from the C after UN(FROZEN), I'm up a few points and on the turn and I have the scoring Y. But really... I like (C)OY the best. It just seems like I'll have the most control of winning.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: ADEILPS 15D PALSIED +96 366
>Jack_Norman: ?AAMNSU L3 AM +18 372
#note CP still has me winning at 80% after UN(FROZEN). AM is ~55%. Down to a minute on my clock here. Keeping the M as a scoring tile is a nice idea. Maybe AN L3 instead since AN now takes an S (and AM doesn't). Sim likes UM(MA) which threatens to bingo or score in column A while threatening to bingo row 3. Opening another lane like AN M12 is another option.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: ?BIRTTW 2I TWIT +20 386
#note This and WRIT in the same spot give him the best shot at winning, winning 62.5% of the time. They lose if the U is in the bag ((C)AyENNES or (C)ANtEENS) or if one of the Ns is in the bag (his outs will be blockable).
>Jack_Norman: ?AENNSU 1F UsNEAS +24 396
#note Best, but not enough.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: ?BER 3G BRaE +16 402
#note BEs(HIVE)R for 21 is awesome.
>Ben_Schoenbrun: (N) +2 404
#note This was one of those painful losses where you really kick yourself. I was 99% to win and I opened a lane where he could score 96, and he hit it. That about sums it up. I'm pretty happy with the strategic decisions I made to control the board early on, but I need to allow for more time for the pre-endgame.
