>Michael_Fagen: GINRU 8H UNRIG +16 16
>Joshua_Sokol: DIOOOUX J4 ODOU. +8 8
#note just play OXO at 7G. I didn't see that placement, but 9L is also better than this. He is likely to overlap and not give me a good X spot, so this is just bad.
>Michael_Fagen: ANW K4 NAW +25 41
>Joshua_Sokol: BCCDIOX L3 COB +26 34
#note wow, 4G OBC(ON)IC! Had no idea that was a word. This is very nicely defensive, so it's possibly a better play, but that's really cool
>Michael_Fagen: V 6I V.. +9 50
#note forcing Michael to make this sort of play is pretty good for me
>Joshua_Sokol: CDEINRX H7 X. +9 43
#note He basically has a weak-ish 6-tile bingo leave, I would say. This reduces his bingo chances by the most, and maximizes my chances while retaining the C for further defense. I'm worried I'm giving him a 7 at G1, but I can bingo through that a lot of the time. 9K NIX would have been the play otherwise, but I just give him something too often I think. I know that if he hooks NIX-E I get 40+ for NIXED, but I'm still behind after that on a pretty closed board. I don't know though, perhaps I was overthinking this?
>Michael_Fagen: NO G6 NO +13 63
>Joshua_Sokol: CDEEINR F5 REC +23 66
#note Once again attempting to play crippling defense. I don't know that he has an S here, I'm pretty sure he doesn't actually, so REC won't allow him to hit a board-opening 6 at 8A. Otherwise F6 ICE is a good option if he isn't grooming his rack to an extreme level.
>Michael_Fagen: INQ 3L .INQ +30 93
#note Guess I should have gone with the aggressive play.
>Joshua_Sokol: DEEINST N1 DE.TINES +72 138
#note dangerous, but so is M6 DESTINE. DESTINE would have worked out better for me.
>Michael_Fagen: EEMORRT O6 EMOTER +36 129
#note Held and released. Just needed to make sure REMOTES didn't have another anagram that I confuse with EMOTER. TREMORE(D) was there for Michael, but it's new and over a certain probability threshold so he doesn't know it.
>Joshua_Sokol: ABLMPSZ N10 BALMS +42 180
#note Better than PALMS because of PZ synergy on this board. There are no 3s with BZ and 3 with PZ, two of which play at E4. But, there are more longer words with BZ in them, so the difference is minimal.
>Michael_Fagen: DRUY 1K RUD.Y +33 162
>Joshua_Sokol: EIPTTUZ 13J UPTI.E +20 200
#note I didn't actually think ODOURIZE was a word, but I think I would have gotten away with it anyway. Perhaps I should have been more confident that it was invalid, so that I could confidently challenge any hooks. Quackle thinks ODOURIZE* is 4 points worse than this, which assumes it cannot be hooked, which would be one of the main issues with ODOURIZE*. The PUTT leave is just really bad. UPTIME doesn't score much, but it leaves ZT, which is pretty good as far as scoring leaves go, with so many A's E's and I's out to complement the Z. I'm ahead here, but I also don't want to open too much up. ODOURIZE*, even if I know it's phony and challenge off hooks or use them for myself, might still not do it, because of the big 2x2 potential, leaving the E in sixth position on row 11, the absolute best possible double-double setup. This gives back a very marginal bingo lane and keeping the Z can work if I think he is going to hit that lane. I can then just score with it.
>Michael_Fagen: EEF E3 FEE +16 178
>Joshua_Sokol: AAIILTZ F2 ZA +36 236
#note that was a fishy play, and I drew too many I's and A's, after marveling at their multiplicity last turn to complement my Z. I have a lot of options this turn. I was looking at 3C TA(F)IA, but I'm pretty sure I'd just be giving Michael a big play with his S. He's clearly fishing here but once again his rack doesn't seem very strong. I think he has an S and possibly another E with two low-scoring consonants or an A or an I. But this seemed safe enough, even though there are a lot of A's out. I almost play ALI(F), and I should have, because I don't think he has both blanks more than 10% of the time here to hook with CALIF or KALIF. But even if I cash the Z with the ALIF setup, I'm giving a bingo lane back, and I can't afford to do that, so that's why I said no to ALIF. I probably should just go with TAFIA or ZIT D2, but my options aren't inviting.
>Michael_Fagen: ASY G1 SAY +34 212
#note not good. He must have drawn the Y and possibly the A too.
>Joshua_Sokol: AAGIILT L10 GAI. +10 246
#note now my options are really bad. I don't want to play 14G AGITA because he has a strong bingo leave, but perhaps I play L10 AGI(T)A and hope he doesn't know that it takes an S? Seems too risky to me. I think this really sucks but I have to hope it works out. I want to play more tiles so I can draw a blank but there is no safe way of doing so.
>Michael_Fagen: EELNRST 14D RELENTS +65 277
#note uh oh
>Joshua_Sokol: AEGILRT H10 REGI.A +27 273
#note really bad noww. I need a blank, fast. I almost played LATI(N)G in the same spot for the better leave but took it back. He would have had ALPHAbE(T) to the T, but I might have drawn a winning response. I think I should play LIA(N)G for less, because I'm just not outscoring him at this point. I need to maximize my chances at a bingo while taking out the spot that could be the end of me even if I do hit the bingo.
>Michael_Fagen: ?AAEHPT K11 HA. +28 305
#note EARTHPEA and APHTHAE play. Michael said "I hate you" when I switched my play, a phrase which has become so common an occurrence that it has almost entirely lost its meaning. Is it still not OK for him to be so awful with me?
>Joshua_Sokol: HIILOTT D4 THIOL +28 301
#note hoping for the J and a blank now, and to avoid the other junk. Almost went with THIO in the same spot but he's likely to have the last L for THIOL. I guess that's a nonissue though, since he is defending his lead and doesn't want to open anything else up. But playing one more tile really improves my chance at hitting a necessary blank, so it's very close. I don't like that this clamps the board, but Michael can't really play much defense here, so I think it's fine. Maybe not against a more talented opponent, but things look very grim.
>Michael_Fagen: ?AEKLP G13 K.A +25 330
>Joshua_Sokol: DFIOOTV 11D FOOT.D +20 321
#note alright, well I lose now. Perhaps I needed to play D3 OH last turn, but I think going for the J and a blank was a better plan, as he definitely didn't have the J. Here I was hoping to draw J?, but even then I lose. Just spread cutting I guess. Maybe he lets FOOTDIV(E)* go? There is no way to win here so I might as well try it.
>Michael_Fagen: ?AEIJLP 12A JAPEs +53 383
#note -7 to 10D InJE(R)A for 64!
>Joshua_Sokol: ?IVW 15A WIVe +28 349
>Joshua_Sokol: (IL) +4 353
