#note Forgot (or maybe didn't know) that WAIF was a verb. WAIFED sims best. I thought about wifed too, but figured keeping the FI wasn't so bad, especially if the DWS at 7G stayed open.
>Brad_W: ?ACEEIR H8 .ECIAREs +83 83
#note DERACINE ("a displaced person") is best (89). Brad's find is second.
>BJ: AEFINRW 9G F.W +26 54
#note Well darn, I was going to play FAWNIER somewhere for a bingo. WAFERING is the only 8 with this rack, but I (a) didn't know it and (b) there's no G on the board. Quackle agrees that my play is best. I also liked 7E FAW for the leave but not for the 6F hotspot it opens up. Quackle likes it almost exactly as much as my play.

#note Well, now I know the word RETIRACY, that would've been cool. Didn't know RETIARY either, that would've been a double-double for 40. (Yes, RETIARY is related to RETIARII! Both have something to do with nets.) I don't think I looked for words at 15J, though if I did I missed ARTERY. I know I looked for words in that spot several times during the game, but maybe it was later on. I remember that this was one of those turns when I finally made a play that I didn't like because I was tired of looking for something good and not finding anything. Not a good sign. My play sims very poorly. Should have gone with 7E YAR. Dumb.

>BJ: EIIINOT -IIO +0 70
#note Quackle prefers G2 OI to my exchange. I considered it. But the exchange was Quackle's runner-up.
>Brad_W: ABERZ D1 ZEBRA +55 191
>BJ: EIINSST 1A SIT. +39 109
#note All right, this mistake is just one I cannot make. I can't miss an easy bingo like 12G SANITIES (or SANITISE). Or ISATINES or TENIASIS, for that matter. SENITIS is new and I probably should have known that one too. Well ... interestingly, though, SITZ actually sims better than those 8-letter bingoes, slightly. I guess because it's a reasonably good score (39) and a great leave. Huh.
>Brad_W: AEIV D8 .AVIE +25 216
>BJ: EEINOSX G2 OX +43 152
#note I half expected there to be yet another bingo here that I missed, but no. OX sims best, even though I don't like the H-column setup. But the runners-up (G1 NOX and 10H COX) have much lower valuations.
>Brad_W: DEGIO H1 GEOID +44 260
#note Brad has the perfect tiles for this spot. Darn.
>BJ: DEEINOS K9 DENOISE +77 229
>BJ: DEEINOS -- -77 152
#note 10H CODEINES. 11F DEIONISE. Boy if I win this game it won't be because I deserve it!! I didn't like DENOISE*, decided it would be foolish to try, then looked at the score and thought maybe not. I hear the word in technology conversations related to signals and images, so that's probably my bias here. Anyway, as I've said before, 7s and 8s, even high prob, are my weakness, and it shows here. I was basically either going to make this guess or go with 15J ONSIDE and just get some tile turnover despite having a pretty bingo prone rack. Quackle prefers a lot of small plays with bingo-prone leaves instead.
>Brad_W: MOT 3A TOM. +16 276
>BJ: DEEINOS 15J ONSIDE +30 182
#note Amazingly I'm only 100 points behind. Maybe if I'm lucky I can get back in this game despite my poor play.
>Brad_W: EGINNOP L8 OPENING. +74 350
#note Dang. 5H DEPONING was Brad's other option.
>BJ: BDETUUV K4 DEBUT +18 200
#note Not the kind of rack I need right now. 5H DUVET sims best.
>Brad_W: AHMNY L1 MYNAH +43 393
#note A nice find.
>BJ: ?IOPTUV 1L .OUP +24 224
#note MOUP sims pretty well.
>Brad_W: ORS 6I OR.S +22 415
#note Brad pondered his play here for what seemed like an eternity to me, because I drew a blank and was sitting on a nice bingo at O8. It won't change the outcome but will help my spread significantly and restore at least a bit of my dignity. Brad told me later that he was pondering the choice between this play and 8K TORSO. I'm incredibly relieved when he finally makes his choice.
>BJ: ?EIQTUV O8 QUiETIV. +110 334
#note Thank goodness. Something positive to help my psychological state going into the next game. Other choice here was EQUATIVE, which I didn't know.
>Brad_W: ILNT N1 .NTIL +10 425
>BJ: AAEFHNU C11 HAUF +27 361
#note He's going to go out no matter what I do, so go with this. FAH/FEH in a couple of places are slightly better.
>Brad_W: AIRST B7 STRIA +13 438
#note A3 TRAITS is best, so this out-play surprised me a bit. This was my first game where I felt during the game itself (as opposed to during post-game analysis) that I was really off. QUIETIVE was a little lucky but at least I didn't miss that one like I did the others. This was my lowest-scoring game of the tournament, which actually isn't so bad since usually one can expect to have a game or two where nothing at all comes together. But Brad was as focused and tough as always so I need to be much better if I want to beat him.
