#player1 Mack Mack
#player2 Jesse Jesse
>Mack: BDFIRSU H4 BURFI +26 26
>Jesse: EIIINRY -III +0 0
>Mack: DNPRSUX G8 XU +19 45
#note Very weird position. Nothing stands out here, this and PIX are the only reasonable options that don't give up the S. And even if I do play the S, my best option is 9H SPURN, which isn't particularly exciting. Ultimately what tilted the scale in favor of XU for me was that Jesse just exchanged 3 and XU seemed best for limiting his bingo percentage.
>Jesse: EEINORU 4D OURE.I +16 16
#note plays like EURO or OURIE now no longer make sense since XU gummed everything up
>Mack: ADENPRS E4 .NDRAPES +94 139
#note Very lucky pull of AE here
>Jesse: BEIKNOY 3I KOINE +39 55
#note I'm already down 123, so I liked KOINE to set up possible row 2 bingos in future, even though the BY leave makes it unlikely that I'll hit that lane anytime soon. I thought about BONEY at D8, but against a player of Mack's caliber I have to start shaping the board in my favor now.
>Mack: DILNNTU 5G D.NLIN +24 163
#note JD: nice play by mack, clearing the rack, scoring and opening nothing.
>Jesse: ABEENOY D8 BONEY +41 96
>Mack: AEGIMTU 7H .UMIGATE +66 229
>Jesse: AEFHOOV O4 FOV.AE +48 144
#note nice to be able to open another lane on this play.
>Mack: ADEIIRV N9 AVID +18 247
#note At this score I like this over the other option I considered of L1 VENIN, N9 is by far the easiest bingo lane for Jesse to hit
>Jesse: AEHOQWZ C7 HOW +34 178
#note tough call, I considered some variety of Z setup, but chose this play because it opens the top-left, and because I'm OK with keeping the Q - if I draw one of the 5 Ts, I get to play either QAT at M11 opening a juicy lane, or QAT at 2K protecing the SKIN hook. WO at 9C threatens ZA or a play like HAZEL/HAZER, but Mack is surely going to try his utmost to block, so I don't think the setup is worthwhile. Given his actual rack of AEEILLR, for instance, I think he would've played LAREE.
>Mack: AEEILLR 4L ALE. +22 269
>Jesse: ?AEIOQZ 12L QA.I +30 208
#note unideal, but QI at M11 seemed too maniacal.
>Mack: AEILLRT 2D LITERAL +73 342
>Jesse: ?AEEGOZ 1A GAZE +48 256
#note extraordinarily consonant-heavy bag, figured best to keep two vowels with blank and go for a G bingo. I could also cash in now with BEGAZE, but then my only strong lane is SWOP at B9.
>Mack: ?EHIRST A1 .HoSTIER +86 428
#note B9 bingos score 7 more but no reason to open a 3*3 at this score
>Jesse: ?CEOOSY J7 .YOSCOpE +68 324
#note Mack: Nice JD: thanks! embarassingly, I've phonied with MYOSCOPY* before, and I momentarily thought this was phony and MYOSCOPY* was the valid one of the pair.
>Mack: CGNRSTW M6 R.NG +13 441
#note If I don't draw a vowel my options are going to be very limited whatever I do, and this felt like it gave me the best options if I do get one between TAKIN up top and MYOSCOPES
>Jesse: ADEJMOT I9 JO +36 360
#note one point better than the very clever JEED at 14H setting up ATOM for 49
>Mack: CPSTTW M11 P.CTS +22 463
>Jesse: ADEMT C11 MATED +26 386
>Jesse: (TW) +10 396
