>Joshua_Sokol: DIILNRS H8 INDRI +14 14
#note I did not want to play 3 letters here. Not only because my leave wasn't good for scoring and only hit a bingo up to around 40% of the time next turn, but also because it gives Jackson a clear advantage in that he will adapt well to my range of rack leaves. However, I could have played DIRL for 10, which is a good medium between INDRI and LID. It sims two points higher than INDRI.
>Jackson_Smylie: EIOV 10F VI.EO +19 19
>Joshua_Sokol: DEIJLNS 11J DJIN +27 41
#note Fishing was tempting but this is fine. Once again I don't want Jackson to get free rack information, as he is very good at adapting to that.
>Jackson_Smylie: FFIOOT M9 FI.FOOT +34 53
#note As it stood Jackson did not know that INDRI took an S, and expected me to have a blank in hand rather than an S. It took a lot for him to gather the courage to make this play.
>Joshua_Sokol: EEGGMSS N11 SEEM +40 81
#note Not going straight for a bingo has seemingly broken my rack
>Jackson_Smylie: IIII -IIII +0 53
>Joshua_Sokol: BDGGLSW -BGGLW +0 81
#note I would normally keep LS here but DS seemed better, for both scoring purposes and because there were 3 L's left to duplicate in the pool. Quackle prefers keeping the lone S, which makes sense. (-1)
>Jackson_Smylie: CEIINOS L3 NICOISE +75 128
#note first case of Jackson not knowing INDRIS
>Joshua_Sokol: ACDRRSU M1 CRUD +21 102
#note There is a lot of value in playing M2 CUD. It's a setup that will stay open until it is taken. I missed a good opportunity here to try and turn things my way, but I have multiple spots to bingo anyway, so it's not the worst thing to not make a setup gambit when the score is so close and the board bereft of big scoring opportunities. What would you do?
>Jackson_Smylie: BBOY 6J BO.BY +26 154
>Joshua_Sokol: AAENPRS 1M .AP +21 123
#note I don't know, would you have taken the 9 extra points here for the far inferior bingo leave? PACER and RECAP sim close to the top, but I think I should go straight for my bingo now.
>Jackson_Smylie: AINPRST G2 SPIRANT +65 219
>Joshua_Sokol: AELNRST 1C RENTALS +84 207
#note making a second A setup with STERNAL 1B was tempting
>Jackson_Smylie: AQ 4J QA.. +14 233
>Joshua_Sokol: EGIOTUZ 5D GUI.O +12 219
#note 15H GETOU(T) is the conservative option. Tie the game up and keep the Z for scoring next turn instead of overtly setting it up. I can still hit F6 with one of many draws, it's just a question of how likely Jackson is to hit the F column with an overlap of his own. This play seemed to reduce his overlapping options and set up the Z, but perhaps it was too suspicious. I could also play GOUTIE(R) and hope to draw an L for L(E)Z, maybe a blank. QA(ID) indicated that Jackson did not have a T, but that's about it. He might have a blank, so turnover might backfire. I think GETOU(T) is fine. I missed it.
>Jackson_Smylie: AMX 4C MAX +39 272
#note as it stood, Jackson not only blocked my setup by accident, but also gave me a new spot to score with my Z. Not quite as lucrative, but a play from 3B ending in Z scores almost 50.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?EETTWZ 3B TEW +27 246
#note I played this kind of quickly. I had a 78-point play here, which is clearly superior!
>Jackson_Smylie: AEGLN 15H GELAN. +24 296
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AAERTZ 12C ATRAZ.nE +86 332
>Jackson_Smylie: EHO 13C HOE +26 322
>Joshua_Sokol: DELTUWY 14D DEW +22 354
#note I did a bunch of calculations here, and it seemed like setting my Y up was the way to go. I was worried about bingos making S(TEW), but also worried about plays like sHAKER at A3, which score 54. It seemed beneficial to leave two in the bag instead of one, since after a 6-tile play by Jackson, I need him to either have a low-scoring out or no out at all. Him having 3 tiles in that case would be far better than him having only 2. That was the first reason I didn't go with 14D WELT, Champion player's choice. The second reason was. what can I draw after WELT? 15A DULY? That was the only thing I could hit with one tile. Otherwise I would need a specific two-tile draw to hit a big play there. DEW gave me UGLY with a G draw, and seemed to work with more draws than WELT. I don't think WELT is the right play here though, even if I am a bit more likely to hit a play at 15A.
>Jackson_Smylie: ?AEEKLR K6 .KE +15 337
#note This was a great play by Jackson. He needs to either bingo or hope that I don't have a play at 15A. He noticed that I could not block the S(TEW) hook given the current tile pool. Well, that's not actually entirely true. I can play OUTGU(N) to the N, which is quite problematic 50% of the time. He knows I have the Y, so he will win if I have OUTGUVY on my rack and lose if I have OUTGUHY or OUTGULY. But that's a tough win for me to see with those racks, and my time was running low.

In any case, Jackson has multiple ways of winning after OKE. He doesn't necessarily need to bingo. That's what's great about it. It maximizes his chances of pulling a bingo while maintaining the score at a level where he can still outrun me in the endgame with a good draw.

Still, he doesn't necessarily need a bingo to win. If I block with OUTGU(N) after this play, he can still outgun me if I can't go out in two.

>Joshua_Sokol: GLTUUVY 11A GUY +16 370
#note I was heartbroken here when I saw what I pulled. I couldn't imagine Jackson would make a losing play. KASHER, KOSHER, SHAKER and a bunch of bingos were in the pool, and even if he made a fish, it looked hopeless on my end. UGLY would not be able to outrun an out-in-two. I played this thinking it blocked SHOALER with 10 seconds left on my clock. That's 34 spread down the drain. This is the 3rd game out of 5 that I lose mostly because of my last draw against Jackson. Variance hurts.
