>Cesar_del_Solar: AADEMRU -AU +0 0
>Joshua_Sokol: AAEILNT -A +0 0
#note could also pass, but that means he can freely exchange next turn if he doesn't hit a bingo. I can wait and hit mine through his, but I think it's better to go for one of my own first.
>Cesar_del_Solar: ADEFIMR -F +0 0
>Joshua_Sokol: AEIILNT -I +0 0
>Cesar_del_Solar: ADEGIMR 8G MIG +12 12
#note He has to play a valid word here, or I challenge and he almost always loses.
>Joshua_Sokol: AEILNTU 9E ALUNITE +70 70
>Cesar_del_Solar: AADERSU J9 .AU +5 17
#note 8F AMIGA _maybe_ ..... or 7G AA. this sucks. my move is probably ok.
>Joshua_Sokol: AFINSUX 8K AUXIN +41 111
#note I am in great shape here
>Cesar_del_Solar: ADEENRS 12D ENDEARS +72 89
>Joshua_Sokol: AEFOSWY 11D YEOW +37 148
>Cesar_del_Solar: ?DJNPSY H6 DJ..N +13 102
#note i didn't want to take the 3 extra points for N6 DJIN to attempt to keep the board more open. so that's wrong.
>Joshua_Sokol: ABFMOSV 7L MOB +26 174
#note After his last play, I think I should be playing defense.
>Cesar_del_Solar: ?ABOPSY 13G BY +26 128
#note close to SOAPY 8A, which i like now.
>Joshua_Sokol: ADFHNSV 14D FAHS +27 201
#note I wanted to play 4 tiles here to maximize my chances of drawing a vowel. Cesar seemed very strong here, so if he is going to hit a bingo, I want it to be more of an airball (such as to the D in DJINN or to the A in ALUNITE. I am giving free scoring up but he doesn't seem like he's likely to be able to make much use of the scoring spot, but mostly I'm just trying to reduce his bingo chances and keep scoring options open for myself.
>Cesar_del_Solar: ?AIOPRS E2 dIASPOR. +68 196
#note Success! I have blocked SOPRAnI 14H and forced Cesar to bingo for only 68.
>Joshua_Sokol: DDLNVVZ 4D V.V +18 219
#note not sure exactly what my leave was here, but I definitely had ZVVDNL. This was exactly what I feared with my play of FAHS; I would get a bad draw, Cesar would open something up and I would not be able to respond. I was about to exchange, and I really, really should have. Instead I made this middling play. I think I keep just the lone Z here, but it only sims 2 points higher than my play. I think this is bigger than a 2 point mistake. I need to score next turn
>Cesar_del_Solar: EEKLNRS 15A KNEEL +38 234
>Joshua_Sokol: DDELNTZ 10B ZED +40 259
#note now I have nowhere for a big score, and have to settle for only 60 points in two turns. Still, happy to draw an E.
>Cesar_del_Solar: AGOORRS 6M GOR +24 258
>Joshua_Sokol: CDLLNOT C6 DOLC. +12 271
#note I considered 11J (U)NCOLD*, but figured I would not get away with that. I missed UNTOLD in the same spot, which is far, far better than my play. It scores more, creates scoring spots, leaves me with a much better leave conducive to scoring on this board, and digs deepest into the bag for the S and the blank, two extremely important tiles at this stage of the game. This is not even close.
>Cesar_del_Solar: AEFIORS O1 FAIRE. +30 288
#note 8A FILAR keeps a better leave in general.
>Joshua_Sokol: GILNORT B2 TIGLON +25 296
>Cesar_del_Solar: CEIIOST A7 OI +9 297
#note josh: in post-mortem I disliked this play. It indeed ended up working in his favor. He wanted to block the scoring spot, but there's only one O left, I'm not likely to have a big play there. It's probably slightly better to take the points at F6. He's not in great shape here at all. cesar: this is the best Scrabble play i've ever made. ZOIC may have been ok too.
>Joshua_Sokol: HORRTTU 2E .ROUTH +18 314
#note He clearly does not have the Q, and might not even have both the blank and the S. There are a lot of vowels left to draw as well. I played this with confidence, because the pool isn't great. I have most of the bingo consonants. He might have ITTES or something. I have to hope he missed his bingo, and if he does, I can draw the Q and hopefully have multiple spots to score enough to win. I think this is the right play. I can also hit bingos. RT is a very good leave for this pool.
>Cesar_del_Solar: ?CEEIST O8 .ICETiES +80 377
#note josh: Cesar lucks out again, but misses CUTESIER and CHESTIER to the R in FAIRER, which win 100% of the time. NESCIENT also does better than this. He didn't end up blowing the game, but I could have had an array of out-bingos here. Instead, I did indeed draw the Q I was hoping for, and Cesar's blunder doesn't cost him the game. cesar: it wasn't a "blunder", and i had about 35 seconds to find the right play of CUTESIEr here; i found it at the end of the game. i would have had more time had he not opened with "A" and made me waste 5 minutes trying to calm down enough to continue playing without losing it.
>Joshua_Sokol: AEQRTTW A1 QAT +40 354
>Cesar_del_Solar: AEIP N14 PI +18 395
#note josh: -5 to APE cesar: in case you think i'm lying about being low on time, APE is obvious here.
