>Jennifer_Lee: EELP 8L PEEL +38 62
>Mina: AGLNOOT 10F GON +14 85
>Mina: AEEILOT (challenge) +5 90
#note Setting up my A- hook. Alas, the right play was 10G LAGOON for 31. Learning point: look for simple but multiple-overlap plays.
>Jennifer_Lee: KNS L8 ..NKS +22 84
>Mina: AEEILOT 11K O.E +14 104
#note This is one of those episodes where I misjudge the worth of a leave. Quackle favors N7 A(ER)OLITE for 20 leaving E, followed by 11I ALI(K)E for 18 leaving EOT. I purposely didn't score that much because I thought AEILT would be a strong leave.
>Jennifer_Lee: HT M11 .TH +14 98
>Mina: AEEGILT E8 EGALITE +71 175
#note I get to use the hook I set up.
>Jennifer_Lee: BFIR 14B BRI.F +36 134
>Mina: AAEEIIU -AEIIU +0 175
#note Again I make an amateur mistake in which I misjudge the worth of a leave. The correct play was to exchange everything except one E. Keeping AE sims a distant second-best.
>Jennifer_Lee: ADEIM 15F AIMED +29 163
>Mina: AAEILNO D2 AEOLIAN +69 244
#note Lucky not to be punished for keeping two vowels!
>Jennifer_Lee: DENV 12D V.NED +22 185
>Mina: JLRSTUZ 6C R.TZ +33 277
#note Quackle favors J8 S(O)Z for 45, followed by a slew of plays that keep the Z: I've noticed that Quackle really values keeping Z.
>Jennifer_Lee: MU 10J MU. +25 210
>Mina: DIJLRSU 3C J.RID +30 307
#note Yay, Quackle says I made the right play.
>Jennifer_Lee: NSY H1 NYS +32 242
>Mina: CGLSTUW F1 TW.G +16 323
#note Quackle deems this second-best to 7J GUST for 22, which seems blatantly worse to me since it burns the S for only six more points and keeps W. Geeking out over Quackle's delicious third-place play of 10A GLUC(AGON), a word I know from medical school.
>Jennifer_Lee: AH 4B HA. +15 257
>Mina: CCELSUV A4 CLUES +42 365
#note Correct play was A4 CUSEC, which is in my "I recognize it" vocabulary but not in my "I can find and play it" vocabulary.
>Jennifer_Lee: O G3 .O +6 263
>Mina: AACEEVX 5G CAVE +15 380
#note "Correct" play was 15A VAE for 24. But was it really? In my defense, my purpose was to shut down the bingo lane that Jenn had just created, and I would do the same thing again.
>Jennifer_Lee: OPU 4J OUP +12 275
#note I recorded Jenn's play as OUP for 12 but can't remember whether she played it at 4J or 14J.
>Mina: AEINOUX O5 AXI. +11 391
#note Hmm, Quackle says I should have played 13G XENIA for 41. I admit that's a lot more than I scored, but my purpose was to shut down the most usable remaining bingo lane.
>Jennifer_Lee: FY 15A FY +31 306
>Mina: ?BENORU M1 NUBs +15 406
#note Just drew a blank, which means she holds the other blank, which in MY mind means I need to close down the last bingo lane. Yet Quackle Championship Player completely disagrees, preferring J8 s(OM)BER for 31. This game is notable because Quackle disagrees with my defensive play at numerous points and yet I don't see why I might be wrong. I thought the whole idea was "When you're ahead, think of all the ways in which you can lose."
>Jennifer_Lee: ?AIIRST N5 TAm..S +23 329
>Mina: EOR 11E .ORE +20 426
#note Such a fun fit, right? But in fact Quackle tells me I had an even better outplay: K3 E(U)RO for 28. Oops.
>Mina: (IIR) +6 432
