>Darrell_Day: AIP 8G PIA +10 10
>Jim_Burlant: BCDDEMR I6 DR.B +11 11
#note Bleah. So obsessed with unloading the consonant overload that I missed the best play: REDD 9F scores 22. Q also likes MAC I7 for reasons I don't fully get. This is mid-pack.
>Darrell_Day: AIQ 6F QAI. +34 44
>Jim_Burlant: ACDEMOS G5 C.M.O +15 26
#note Debated whether I should burn the S and take the points at J2, or if I should rack groom. This isn't one of the original choices, but it holds its own very nicely. It's every bit as strong of a choice as COMAS or CAMOS J2 and it eventually tops a sim.
>Darrell_Day: AOZ J9 AZO +36 80
>Jim_Burlant: ADEELNS 12E LEADENS +73 99
#note The 10A placement only scores one more than this, so that ruled out 10A. As for why I didn't play at K3, this choice outscores that by 3 as well as taking out the AZON possibilities. It takes a few hundred iterations for a sim to sort itself out, but it agrees with me. This is best. Still a deuce game, 49% and change to win.
>Darrell_Day: CEHW 11C CHEW +33 113
>Jim_Burlant: EGOTUWX H12 .OUX +36 135
#note I struggled on this turn, debating between two plays: GOX 13G 46, and this. What swayed me was that I couldn't convince myself that it was worth 10 scoreboard points to keep UW. If I couldn't unload both, I had to at least get rid of the U, so I went with this. The duck disagrees, saying that GOX is best and that this wins 2-1/2% less often and is a 4-1/2 point dog.
>Darrell_Day: AELSSTT K3 LATESTS +69 182
>Jim_Burlant: EGGNOTW - +0 135
#note I had never seen this played and thought I would have surely seen this by now, so I instachallenged. Unsuccessfully.
>Darrell_Day: NU I14 NU +13 195
>Jim_Burlant: EFGSTUW 13C WEFT +32 167
#note Brilliant move to lose a challenge when I'm sitting on UW for a second consecutive turn. This is best - GULFS 3I is worth honorable mention.
>Darrell_Day: EIR L3 IRE +14 209
>Jim_Burlant: DFGHLSU 8K .HUGS +39 206
#note It's either this or DOUGH 11I. Q likes it because it sets up the S hook, but knowing Darrell that's going to be blocked if I put it out there so I may as well take the extra 12 points. I'm fine with this.
>Darrell_Day: JU N6 JU. +27 236
>Jim_Burlant: DFILNNY M1 YIN +18 224
#note Didn't see anything I liked and put this down to open up, crossing fingers that either (a) he wouldn't be able to do much more than something like TYEE for 24 or (b) if he played from 1H he'd at least open row 2 for me in the process. 2L FLY and 11I FOIN top a sim, FWIW.
>Darrell_Day: EENRV 1H VENER. +39 275
#note Well, that didn't exactly work out. :-/
>Jim_Burlant: ?DFLNOR N2 FON +26 250
#note There are certain alphagrams that, when I first see them, I see a phony and not the real word. When I saw UNFOLDeR, I convinced myself it was one of those see-the-phony-first words and that FLOUNDER didn't have an anagram. Too bad, because I outsmarted myself. UNFOLDER is indeed good and it would have put me up near 50% winning chances. Instead, I'm under 39. If I whiff on the bingo I should play FOR, not FON.
>Darrell_Day: AILNTY O8 .AINTLY +11 286
>Jim_Burlant: ?ADLMRT N10 MA +22 272
#note A play I definitely got wrong. MADLY 14K looks reasonable. This doesn't turn enough of the rack.
>Darrell_Day: BKO 11I B.OK +28 314
>Jim_Burlant: ?DGLRTT -DGLT +0 272
#note Maybe throw the R back in as well since 2 of them are left? 27.4% to win.
>Darrell_Day: DO 10D OD +16 330
>Jim_Burlant: ??APRTV C9 AR. +10 282
#note Opening the board for my blanks. I didn't see how 20 pionts for 14L VARY would help. If I had a good 30-point play to open the board that couldn't be easily shut down, I'd do it. Q likes 14A AVeRT - I don't. Too easy for him to shut down and I have nowhere to bingo after he plays at 15A. One other factor comes into play - by now, I was low on time. Too many tough plays as well as all the time spent on blank racks that I either whiffed on or didn't have a playable bingo.
>Darrell_Day: IO N14 OI +14 344
>Jim_Burlant: ??IPRTV B3 oVeRTIP +66 348
#note The only other playable bingo is a word I didn't know, PRIVITY. Nonetheless, the odd thing is that, apparently, I shouldn't bingo here. The duck says B TRIP and 7E VIM are the plays.
>Darrell_Day: EEEEGLR A5 REEL +23 367
>Jim_Burlant: ADGIIOT 4B .IGIA +18 366
#note I can't win. Best play is DAGO M12. I was also 2+ minutes over on time at this piont.
>Darrell_Day: EEG 14A GEE +13 380
>Darrell_Day: (DOT) +8 388
#note Final score 388 - 336, Darrell's win. A total screw-up on my end.
