#player2 Chris_Cree Chris Cree
>Jim_Burlant: CEEEGMN 8G GEM +12 12
#note Considered EMCEE and couldn't wrap my arms around playing off all my E's. If I've got to give up the equity, this is the stage of the game to do it.
>Chris_Cree: FGI 9H FIG +18 18
>Jim_Burlant: CEEINNY J9 .YNIE +17 29
#note Not much else to choose from - CINE keeping the Y? EYING G4? Yuck. This is best.
>Chris_Cree: EGISTTV 11E VETTI.GS +98 116
#note The last dictionary update added a number of -INGS words, and I couldn't remember if I had seen this in study. Not wanting to risk the turn, I let it stick. Which shouldn't have been the worst decision I could have made given my rack...
>Jim_Burlant: AACENPR H11 .APER +24 53
#note ...except that I suck and I fail to see PANCREAS. You know, If I'm going to let him get away with a 98-point phony, at least I should take advantage of the S he floated me and play my bingo. Bingoing keeps me in the game at 36%. If I whiff on the bingo I should play PA 10F. This so-so play wins 19.
>Chris_Cree: AORW L11 .OWAR +18 134
>Jim_Burlant: ACFLNOW 15K F.OWN +33 86
>Chris_Cree: ABEOSTU 15A SABOTEU. +83 217
>Jim_Burlant: ACLLORX M13 OX. +39 125
#note CALLOW does a better job clearing the rack but it also kills the southeast - not a great idea when I trail by 131 points. Awkward leave or not, this is best. AXEL F9 is also worth consideration. 4.2% to win.
>Chris_Cree: ALM 14D LAM +25 242
>Jim_Burlant: AACLLOR 7I AL +9 134
#note I initially thought about fishing for CARILLON and thought the better of it. Then, not seeing much of anything I liked, felt my best tack was to open the northeast. This opens an R hook on row 6, and anything he plays down the K column will open lines for me as well. A sim likes N10 CALO for 18, but the difference between everything is pretty much style preference. 3.8% to win.
>Chris_Cree: JT F10 J.T +26 268
>Jim_Burlant: ACILLOR O8 CARILLO. +83 217
#note And after dismissing a CARILLON fish as folly just a turn before, whaddayaknow - I've got CARILLON! When this came down, Chris's comment: "Wow!" Still deep in the hole at roughly 15% winning chances in a short sim.
>Chris_Cree: ADIIIUV -ADII +0 268
>Jim_Burlant: ?EKNRTU K2 TRUNKEd +73 290
#note Luck box! I never saw TURNKEy, and if I had seen it, I still wouldn't have had the guts to play it down the A column since I mistakenly thought it was an adjective and I didn't know it took an S. I also whiffed on the 6E placements of the two 7's in this rack. Nonetheless, it's back to a deuce game.
>Chris_Cree: IOSZ 3I ZO.IS +48 316
#note Sure makes me wish I'd thought of TURNKEY on the previous turn...
>Jim_Burlant: ADEHRSY A8 HYDRASE. +98 388
#note Are you kdding me?!?!? Chris's comment: "Wow, this game sure turned around quickly." In 3 unbelievably lucky turns, I've gone from 3.8% winning chances to 87. Unbelievable.
>Chris_Cree: EINORUV M3 .OUVENIR +63 379
#note Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... The duck thinks Chris is only winning 33% with this play, but this was far from over from my perspective - especially when you saw my next rack:
>Jim_Burlant: CDDEIIP B7 DIE +14 402
#note I saw nothing great at the time and the Quackle kibbitzer confirms my choices are all so-so. I really had no idea what to do here and I put this down. Only after the fact did I realize it set myself up for YEP/PIC on the next turn. Q prefers B5/B4 DIDIE - way too dangerous given the pool IMO. Other plays it likes are 6F EPIC and 6G PIC...bleah. Not sure what I'd do if I had this turn to do again.
>Chris_Cree: ABENO C3 BEANO +20 399
#note Once BEANO came down I knew Chris's goose was cooked. He'd have to deal with the Q while I was going to go out.
>Jim_Burlant: ?CDDINP D2 DID +20 422
#note Amazing how much having the case blank adds to your winning chances. Quackle's end games seem to make no sense here. It thinks 4A ICED is somehow best - really - give him 39 if he's got the Q? I put this down knowing he'd have to ditch the Q on row 12 or 13 whle I would be able to set myself up to go out using the blank. Not sure what I'd do if I had this to do again.
>Chris_Cree: AEEHQTU 12A .QUA +26 425
>Jim_Burlant: ?CINP G3 CoPIN. +14 436
>Jim_Burlant: (EEHT) +14 450
#note Luck box or not, one amazing comeback. Glad I held my composure well enough to pull this one out. Then again, awfully good drawing makes all of us much calmer. :-)
