#player2 Mike_Early Mike Early
>Jim_Burlant: AEEIIJO 8G JIAO +22 22
#note Or at 8F. For reference, AJEE scores the same number of points but keeping duplicated I's is so awful that AJEE is a 6-point dog in a sim.
>Mike_Early: BENO 9F BONE +23 23
>Jim_Burlant: EEINOST 10F OE +20 42
#note Obvious play. The problem with TOE is that it needlesly breaks up the rack for only one more point.
>Mike_Early: CEFI E10 FICE +24 47
>Jim_Burlant: EINSSTY 12E .YSTEINS +78 120
#note CYSTINES in the same location places the E at K12; the N is marginally safer. SYENITES 13C is also good, but it only scores 76 to this play's 78. This is best. 74% to win, but not for long:
>Mike_Early: EEGINOP L5 EPIGONE. +63 110
#note Only bingo for Mike.
>Jim_Burlant: AEEEFRU K1 FEUAR +20 140
#note Nothing really spectacular available; with no real standout I chose this to maximize turnover and unload the FU combo since TUFA H12 left me too vowel-heavy. This is the best of a mediocre lot.
>Mike_Early: ALTU 1K .AULT +27 137
>Jim_Burlant: ADEELLO M3 LODE +18 158
#note Four plays stand out atop a sim: K9 LOANED (which I never saw), M3 OLDE, this, and M3 OLEA for 15. LOANED K9 wins 55.4%, OLDE 53.8, and this wins 53.1, simming 4 points down on LOANED. As for OLDE/LODE, this indiscretion on my end set the wheels in motion. Mike's next play makes me wish I had thought of OLDE:
>Mike_Early: DEEGIW N4 WEDGIE +35 172
>Jim_Burlant: AELNRUY K9 YUA. +25 183
#note And Mike catches a huge break. After spending a couple of minutes looking for the play down the O column that wasn't there, I saw that YUAN scored 25 and unloaded the UY combo, and that was that. I had this annoying feeling I missed a better play on this turn, and Quackle confirms there were two really good choices I never saw. As for what would have been best, the kibbitzer suggests two possibilities: the sim winner, 11C RAINY is a very strong choice: it scores 32 and unloads the Y. And with AAAAARRRR unseen, those letters are expendable from my rack. If I want to play more defensively, UNARY 10K looks good as well since it unloads the UY combo and defends the O column by putting a Y in the middle of it. In retrospect, I sure wish I had found UNARY:
>Mike_Early: AEGHMNO O9 HOGMANE +103 275
#note Ouch!
>Jim_Burlant: ?AELNRR 14E sNARLER +69 252
#note Best bingo. The row 2 bingoes (LARCENER/NEARLIER) score 63 and 61 to this play's 69. Still bleak though, at 18% winning chances in a short sim.
>Mike_Early: ITZ N13 ZIT +41 316
#note OUCH!
>Jim_Burlant: MNPRUVW J11 W.P.R +16 268
#note Right idea, wrong execution. Took forever just trying to find *anything* and slapped this down once I saw it. Don't know how I didn't see WIVER first. That said, the difference is mainly equity. Best of all, this actually wound up helping me if you can believe that. WIVER wins 7% and this wins 4-1/2, simming 8 points down.
>Mike_Early: IO H12 .O.I +12 328
>Jim_Burlant: AAIMNUV 13A MAUV. +20 288
#note The only thing I can do here is open the board up and unload the UV combo in the process. Q gives a marginal preference to UVEA 2I, which looks strong as well. That said, this is also a good choice; I like it because it guarantees the board can't be shut down right away. I'd make this play again.
>Mike_Early: IKSV B10 KIV.S +44 372
#note OUCH!
>Jim_Burlant: AABINOX A13 .AX +38 326
#note No-brainer play. I'm back to 17%, but I'm going to need a miracle to win this.
>Mike_Early: CL 2J C.L +13 385
>Jim_Burlant: ?ABDINO 4D ABDOmIN. +70 396
#note And after several minutes, I find it. This is my only bingo.
>Mike_Early: DHQRSTT I3 Q.S +22 407
#note And I get my miracle. What terrible luck for Mike to miss all the remaining vowels and the blank! He does not have a win. All he can do is dump the Q while I go out in 1 and collect points from all the consonants he drew in the end game. This is his best play.
>Jim_Burlant: RT G3 R.T +4 400
>Jim_Burlant: (DHRTT) +18 418
