>Rick_Julian: DDIO 8G DIDO +12 12
>Charles_Reinke: BEOQRRT H7 Q. +11 11
>Rick_Julian: IV I6 VI. +20 32
>Charles_Reinke: BENORRT 9C BORNE +15 26
#note Quackle prefers J8 (O)RB or 9E BRO, but I was getting anxious about the way the board was developing.
>Rick_Julian: AIRS 8A RIAS +22 54
>Charles_Reinke: ACERTTY 5H CATTERY +82 108
>Rick_Julian: AEJN 10B JANE +37 91
>Charles_Reinke: EFILNST 11E FLIT +26 134
#note Fishing off the F is actually pretty good here.
>Rick_Julian: EPTW 12B WEPT +25 116
>Charles_Reinke: AEGNRSW H11 .WANG +39 173
>Rick_Julian: ADEIMNS K8 SIDEMAN +77 193
>Charles_Reinke: EFHRSSU L11 FEH +36 209
#note I figured I could wait to cash in the S hook at A12 since I have both remaining S's, but there's no reason to not do it this turn since I have a good play there (SURF) which doesn't necessarily telegraph the fact that I have the other S. I erroneously assumed that a play which scores one more and retains both S's would be automatically better.
>Rick_Julian: ABEN 4L NABE +27 220
>Charles_Reinke: ELRSSUZ B12 .UZ +30 239
>Rick_Julian: MOOR 3J ROOM +25 245
>Charles_Reinke: CELRSST M8 CRESTS +41 280
#note I think it's fine to blow up the rack here for 41 points, but I missed C7 C(ABA)R(E)T. This play also sets up an X hotspot, something that I often do without realizing it. Also I scored this as 42 because plays with multiple overlaps are too hard to count.
>Rick_Julian: EEP O1 EPE. +18 263
>Charles_Reinke: AGILLOU H1 AULI. +24 304
#note It's between AULIC and LOGIC in this spot. Since I was planning on trying to shut down column A next turn (there are still two blanks out, oh god help), it comes down to whether AUL or LOG aid Rick's potential bingos more often.
>Rick_Julian: ?AEEINT A1 rETAINE. +74 337
>Charles_Reinke: DGGLOUX 13A L.X +38 342
#note Pros of this play: it gives me the lead. Cons of this play: the leave is so unflexible that I'm likely to lose anyway. Quackle gives I13 XU better winning chances.
>Rick_Julian: AKO G13 KOA +28 365
#note Is this why XU had better winning chances?
>Charles_Reinke: DGGLOOU B2 DOG +21 363
#note I guess I should do 8M (C)OG and hope for a bingo through the A. My chances of outrunning Rick in this endgame are poor since he is very likely to burn me at F14.
>Rick_Julian: HO F13 OH +34 399
>Charles_Reinke: GILOUY N1 YO +23 386
#note Successfully blocked Rick's only out. Currently on my way to the trophy store to get a trophy made. At future Nationals I will keep it under my chair and when I make a good endgame play I'll pull it out and put it on the table next to me.
>Rick_Julian: ?IRUV D12 .eRV +22 421
>Charles_Reinke: GILU 8M .IG +18 404
>Rick_Julian: IU 10J I. +5 426
>Charles_Reinke: LU 4A ..LU +10 414
>Charles_Reinke: (U) +2 416
#note Final: 426-417
