#player1 mishu7 mishu7
#player2 insidious insidious
>mishu7: AFLNNPS -FLNP +0 0
#note The worst game ever, brought to you by Avery and sponsored by nobody because of how bad this is. ISC game from August 10/11 (it went past midnight).
>insidious: ABEILOR -O +0 0
#note Just play through this with BAILOR or something. But this is really defensive, so this clearly is best. Bingos with 11 different letters.
>mishu7: AALLNOS -ALO +0 0
>insidious: ABEEILR -E +0 0
#note Great move
>mishu7: ALNNSSU -NSU +0 0
>insidious: AABEILR -A +0 0
#note This is ISC, so the six-zeroes-in-a-row rule doesn't apply. Sid would lose this game if he were at a tournament (deservedly).
>mishu7: AEILNNS -N +0 0
#note The top static choice!
>insidious: ABEILOR -O +0 0
#note I wanted to start crying after this (and I did).
>mishu7: AEEILNS -E +0 0
#note 500000000000000000000000000000000% done
>insidious: ABEILQR 8D QIBLA +52 52
#note I think it's better strategically to play this at H5, since it opens vertically (to throw off the opponent) and to not give away an easy double-double or an S hook that hits the double word score.
>mishu7: ACEILNS E5 SAL.CINE +90 90
#note This is another downside to QIBLA. This could have been easily prevented, but Sid doesn't know how to play defense.
>insidious: ADERSTY I8 STRAYED +80 132
#note Draws this after failing to draw a hit to ABEILR for 4 turns
>mishu7: ABDEFGI H12 ABED +37 127
#note FEEDBAG seems fine here to open the right side. CP puts this 4th. Yes, this is the first serious comment I've had so far.
>insidious: ?GNORUU 15A UNGROUn. +80 212
#note "I hit another stem bingo!" - Sid Murali
>mishu7: FFGIIMR D10 MIFF +40 167
>insidious: ADEKOOR B11 KROO. +18 230
#note Blocking the U, which is a very volatile bingo lane.
>mishu7: GHIRRRT J13 GHI +36 203
#note This looks exactly like something I would draw in a tournament. And exactly like something I would keep in a tournament.
>insidious: ADEEEII F6 DI. +19 249
#note I sighed so loudly at this play that I think Sid could hear me 1000 miles away. CP picks AE(R)IE, but that's not really a Sid-style play even keeping a D hook. Maybe REDIAE?
>mishu7: NRRRSTU -NRRU +0 203
#note The non-exchange route seems pretty ugly here. Options include K9 TURRS or 11H S(A)NTUR, but the S is valuable for K13.
>insidious: ADEEEIT 10H E.E +5 254
#note Sid effectively lowers his opponent average by about 50 this turn while still avoiding every single one of CP's picks
>mishu7: ANPRSTW 15J .NWRAP +45 248
#note I don't think the sim or CP expected this though!
>insidious: AADEEIT C11 AI +17 271
#note AIA# is the best play. Though CP using TWL likes this.
>mishu7: ENOOSTV N13 OV. +12 260
>insidious: ADEELMT O7 METALED +86 357
>mishu7: EINOOST M7 TOONIES +76 336
>insidious: ?AEIJNO L9 JIAO +39 396
>mishu7: AETTUVZ N6 ZA +36 372
#note ZA seems to kill the right side completely, and with a 60-point deficit keeping TTUV heading into a consonant heavy pool, I'm not sure this is the right way to go. 7H ZETA and this are the only scoring options though. I may go with D2 VATU to open something new. CP picks 7H ZETA (likely for turnover for the blank) and then D2 VATU. 8.48% winning chances, which is accurate until you see the rest of this game.
>insidious: ?EEINNO F14 N. +4 400
#note Hey Mack, did you see the playable 9 this turn? Playing off one tile to draw a consonant in a consonant heavy pool and blocking the only viable X spot. CP does not list this as a choice but I sort of like it, if you don't see the bingo.
>mishu7: CETTUVY D4 CUT +16 388
#note mEN(AD)IONE was the bingo last turn. CP puts this at the top of the list. Not a whole lot of options here with such a clunky leave with a consonant heavy pool. Exchanging is also an option but the point deficit is likely to prove hard to recover.

Also, pause the game here and see if you can find Sid's play. I doubt you can.
>insidious: ?EEINOW 3B WIs +15 415
#note Here's the messages that went between us before this move, with added punctuation:

Sid: "I'm going to use the blank. He can't overlap WIS or hook it. It has to be the play. Consonant heavy pool also"

Avery: So there's a Y unseen
>mishu7: EEHSTVY A1 THY +36 424
#note mishu to Avery: WIS makes no sense to me

Avery: you forget you're playing someone who once missed NOMINEES as a natural bingo

THY is CP's pick, and he's already at nearly 50% to win. He thought HEY may be better, but I like this given the pool.
>insidious: EELNORT B2 O.N +22 437
#note CP is useless when there's two in the bag so I have no comments here
>mishu7: EEGPSUV G10 PUG +19 443
#note There are 4 winning plays, and this is the 2nd best one, 3 points behind the best play. Can you find it?
>insidious: EELRRTX 7E ..E +7 444
#note Nothing wins here, so Sid opts to block mishu's out of VEES/TADS.

Winning plays last turn were 7H PEE, PUG, G3 PUGS and 7I EVE.
>mishu7: EESV 12K V.. +6 449
#note So this doesn't win... ESTRAYED/EVE is the easy win, though just ESTRAYED for 13 or even B2 OWNS will win.
>insidious: ELRRTX 7I EX +23 467
#note Amazingly, EX is not the best play, and is a full 31 points behind the best play of I7 ESTRAYED for 13! Why? Mishu is E-stuck after this play! blocking J11 X plays leads nowhere. This does win though.
>mishu7: EES N6 ..S +15 464
#note 21 points behind just playing EX to go out in two.
>insidious: LRRT 2A ..T +8 475
#note Tied with the best play, but apparently this gives Mishu another fighting chance...
>mishu7: EE 4B .E. +8 472
#note The dangerous NEC attack! And Sid thought he had played TEC, hence not even flinching at it.
>insidious: LRR 13A R.L. +20 495
#note So what have we seen here today?
#note So both players keep exchanging -9- times to start the game, most of which are exchange 1s, and the first play ends up not even being a bingo. Sid then proceeds to draw two bingos after drawing 5 or 7 tiles. He plays stylistic defense such as KROON and ERE to block dangerous spots like the U (though BEG is actually sort of dangerous), two more basic bingos come down, and then Sid makes the play of the century by burning his blank in a close game for 15 points, forgetting a 4-letter word that could (and should) have hurt him way more than it did. Then Mishu forgets that ESTRAYED is a thing and blows a won endgame, but plays a phony 3 that Sid doesn't even notice or care about, to everyone's surprise. Then the best endgame happens to be playing off Sid's one vowel keeping 5 consonants since he can E-stick Mishu and win by a lot. Yes, keeping LRRTX wins games. And together, they scored 980 points, which is 200+ more than some of the most strategic games I've ever seen played. And this guy is usually rated higher than me in real life. I can't tell if I'm happy I saw this or not, because now I want to acid-wash my eyes.
