>Joshua_Sokol: AGIRTYY H7 GAY +14 14
#note Welcome back to today's version of "the G is the worst tile in Scrabble". I saw YAGI, GAY, YAY and GYRI and spent 3 minutes deciding what to play. I played this but I meant to play GYRI with the Y on the star. That would have blocked his bingo. -3.5, I overvalued IRTY as a leave. I also hate the Y.
>Maxim_Panitch: AADEILR I8 RADIALE +68 68
>Joshua_Sokol: IRTTUWY 12H W.RTY +30 44
#note GYRI would have blocked RADIALE. I held RADIALE because I had to remember SALARIED RADIALES* RADIALIA RADIALE. I could also do TWIT J11 but I'm not that desperate yet and that definitely would not have worked out.
>Maxim_Panitch: DFGOSS 14H D.FOGS +19 87
#note this play seemed crazy to me so I decided to do something crazy myself.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?IMOTTU 15B OUTTIMe +83 127
>Joshua_Sokol: ?IMOTTU -- -83 44
#note was pretty sure this was no good. J2 TIMeOUT works fine, but I hated to leave the big triple spot open. Good challenge by Max! This was the beginning of a ridiculously stupid game of Scrabble. You have been warned. Richard Spence tried OUTTIME* later on in the tournament before my eyes and his opponent also challenged it off.
>Maxim_Panitch: ASZ J6 ZAS +35 122
>Joshua_Sokol: ?IMOTTU 13M OUT +10 54
#note Max makes a correct sacrfice to block my bingo, and I make a very good play in return. I know he was and probably still is consonant-heavy, so I'm hoping he can't deal with the spot this creates. Otherwise I should be set to hit lane 15 with a decent draw.
>Maxim_Panitch: HIP G9 PHI +22 144
#note amazingly Max blocks neither spot, and I am back in decent shape.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AEIMOT 15B AMOsITE +86 140
#note The triple-triple was staring right at me, but I could only see MOTIvA(T)E with AEIMOTT?. I have struggled with AEIMORTT a lot, but I'm definitely never missing AMORETTI again! A very low point in the tournament. I saw everything else, all the 7s and the 8s. Just couldn't find what I was looking for!
>Maxim_Panitch: ABGR K4 GRAB +29 173
>Joshua_Sokol: EILNOOS O6 LOONIES. +77 217
#note just getting gift after gift to stay in this game
>Maxim_Panitch: II -II +0 173
#note wow
>Joshua_Sokol: EHNNORT N8 NOH +31 248
#note Trying to block the most painful bingos he could have.
>Maxim_Panitch: ?AEINRV 4G VINE.ARy +74 247
#note 13B INtERVA(L) is 12 more, but he is still in really bad shape here.
>Joshua_Sokol: EEINNRT E8 INTERNE. +64 312
#note blocking the higher-scoring ENTERIN(G), but I still have two other spots. My drawing skills this game have been impeccable.
>Maxim_Panitch: IOP L6 POI +25 272
>Joshua_Sokol: BEEEFWX 14E .X +50 362
#note I wanted to play 12A WEBE(R) really badly. That was better than FEWE(R) in the same spot because if I draw one of the D's, I had an amazing chance at FED(E)X 14B for 106 points. I got worried about the spot getting blocked or scored on, so I played scared. I regret this decision but at this point I was just so pissed off that I didn't believe that I should be taking any risks.
>Maxim_Panitch: E I3 E. +3 275
>Joshua_Sokol: ABEEEFW 12A WEBE. +28 390
#note This time FEWE(R) looked better for equity's sake, but I preferred keeping the F to overlap his bingo if he played on row 2. But I should definitely play BEEF at D8. That accomplishes about the exact same thing as WEBER. Scores the same, keeps the W insteaed of the F, which is better for overlaps to a triple word score than the F is (AWE, WAE are easy to play somewhere). It also blocks many more bingos, and I'm really only losing if Max gets multiple bingos at this point. I don't need to worry about blocking the Q spot and getting Q stuck, because that is extremely unlikely. There are many U's left, and I can get QA(T) K10 at a minimum. Bad play.
>Maxim_Panitch: ADEINRT 2I DETRAIN +74 349
>Joshua_Sokol: AEEFLLS 8A FELL.E +30 420
>Joshua_Sokol: AEEFLLS -- -30 390
#note I mean look at that pool! I just can't lose. Even if I play an outrageous phony. But I just kept trying to throw this game away. FELLY FELLIES. I was sure FELLIE* was good! Ridiculous.
>Maxim_Panitch: JO B10 JO. +26 375
>Joshua_Sokol: AEEFLLS 8A SELF.E +39 429
#note I had drawn QUDMK during the time Max was holding my play. There is absolutely no way for Max to hit a bingo here, but before FELLIE*, I didn't want to play selfie because I was less sure of its validity but also because QOMUTIKS* would have been available!!! that's not a valid spelling, but OVIDUCT(S) might have been there. Now nothing is available, so SELFIE is the right play. I had talked myself into SELFIE even after losing two challenges this game.
>Maxim_Panitch: CCITUUV K10 CU. +10 385
#note And amazingly I drew the same 5 tiles I drew provisionally during the time that Max was holding FELL(I)E*. This is ridiculous, look how bad his rack is. He is blocking QA(T) here, but apparently it's better to play VIC(E) B5
>Joshua_Sokol: ADKLMQU A4 QUAD. +25 454
#note Gives back (Q)UIT, but that gives me an out in M(I)LK, so Max can't do that.
>Maxim_Panitch: CITUV M1 V.I. +14 399
>Joshua_Sokol: KLM 3H L.K +16 470
>Maxim_Panitch: CTU C6 CU.T +8 407
>Maxim_Panitch: (M) +6 413
#note Really, this was just embarrassing... I tried so hard to lose.
