#player2 Jim_Burlant Jim Burlant
>Charles_Reinke: ?EEOORW H4 WOOER +24 24
>Jim_Burlant: FIIOOTT G7 FOOT +23 23
#note J: This or FOO? While FOO leaves me more "balanced", two pairs of I's and T's aren't the kind of balance I want. This is best.
>Charles_Reinke: ?AEEFHR I6 FEAtHER +78 102
#note J: Play incorrectly scored as 77. He's 75% to win and my next move, which is a mistake, turns this game into a blowout in his favor.
>Jim_Burlant: DEGIIIT 12I .IGID +14 37
#note J: I only saw DIGIT J2, EDIT 12H (which I rejected due to leave) and this. I chose this to make sure he couldn't clobber me with something to H15 while I addressed the I overload and kept the board alive. As I entered this rack into Quackle I saw the mistake. The play I needed but never saw was TEIID H10. Not only does it take out O15 while addressing the I overload, but it outscores this by 12 as well. A sim confirms it. In reality, RIGID is not a horrible play. It's not best, but it's reasonable and it does do a nice job keeping the baord alive. But in yet another example of what typified the tournament I was having, this was the worst mistake I could have made. From this point on I can't win the game.
>Charles_Reinke: AEIMSSY 13C MYIASES +92 194
#note J: Beautiful find! But what's he doing with this if I play TEIID?
>Jim_Burlant: EEIPQST 11L QI +25 62
#note J: The Q was rapidly becoming the bane of my existence this tournament, as it always had a habit of showing up only when it got in the way of a promising rack and/or it would cause board position problems for me when I could least afford them. It's either this play or at 14B, and IMO that placement has too many board position issues.
>Charles_Reinke: AAGGLRT 12A GRAAL +32 226
>Jim_Burlant: EENPSTY 10M YEP +17 79
#note J: NEOTYPES doesn't play and I thought my best option was to open another 3x3 so he couldn't shut down the A column. Q prefers 14A TYPE and 14D SPY. It doesn't like this, but the difference is merely equity at this point.
>Charles_Reinke: ABGOTUV O8 BO. +21 247
#note C: Strongly considered N6 VOGUE, which blocks but also gives up J and Z bombs on the triple. VOGUE is probably fine because Jim would have played those off last turn if he had one of them.
>Jim_Burlant: AEILNST A5 STEALIN. +77 156
#note J: Better than nothing, but not the 3x3 I needed. Up to 4% winning chances. Yippee.
>Charles_Reinke: AGITUVX 14F XI +52 299
>Jim_Burlant: DHNNRUW 15G NURD +18 174
#note J: I hated this play - I need to open the northwest or northeast...and I don't have the rack to do it. IMO I have to cover this because if I don't, he'll score 40 or more here on the next turn. I'm screwed. 0.4% to win.
>Charles_Reinke: AAGOTUV J2 GAVOT +23 322
>Jim_Burlant: BCHJNTW 3I B.TCH +30 204
#note J: WATCH is a hair better, but whatever.
>Charles_Reinke: AINNUUZ L3 .UZ +28 350
>Jim_Burlant: EJNNUVW F9 JUN +25 229
>Charles_Reinke: ?AEINNU 10I .UN +8 358
#note C: I can play 14J ENNUI if I want to make a play that doesn't look like a fish.

J: uh oh...
>Jim_Burlant: AEIKNVW 5A .WIVE +22 251
#note J: I had a bad feeling about this given his last play. The consolation: if I had found my best play (N6 KNAWE), he still would have bingoed down the B column:
>Charles_Reinke: ?AEINRT D3 NA.IcERT +72 430
#note There's something aesthetic and calming about having RETINA and a blank on your rack.
>Jim_Burlant: ACEIKLN B2 KNA.EL +36 287
>Charles_Reinke: AEMOPST F2 POMS +26 456
#note C: Just going for points and blocking SWIVED.
>Jim_Burlant: CDEEILR 14J ELIDE +21 308
>Charles_Reinke: ADEOT 15L DOTE +31 487
>Jim_Burlant: CR 8C R.C +5 313
>Jim_Burlant: (A) +2 315
#note Final: 487-315
