#player1 Joey Joey
#player2 Will Will
>Joey: AAEEIMV 8D MAVIE +26 26
>Will: CIOOOST 9B COO +10 10
#note Yeesh, what to do on this one? I did bottom COO so that if my IOST turns into a bingo, it's likelier I'll have at least one line in which to play it, and COO really only gets whacked by racks containing the H.
>Joey: ADEILOP 10D OEDIPAL +71 97
>Will: AIOOSTU H10 .ISTOU +27 37
#note I feel like the score difference between VODOU and PISTOU is exactly right for them to be nearly equivalent.
>Joey: EEIRSST J6 TIRE.ESS +60 157
#note I preferred this over RESITES because it clogs up more bingo lanes.
>Will: ACDINOO 8J .ACOON +33 70
#note ASCONOID and CONOIDAL both blocked! Wow, did not see that one coming.
>Joey: FHLOTYZ N6 FL.OZY +49 206
#note ZLOTYCH is more stylish, but not the leave nor the point value.
>Will: AADIILR E1 RADIALI. +68 138
>Joey: EEGHRRT 2B REG.THER +78 284
>Will: ?AIJSTT 1H TAJ +38 176
>Joey: ADEEFNW 3I FAWNED +44 328
>Will: ?EIMRST A2 pERMITS +89 265
#note J: I had a rare chance to challenge off a phoney by a 2100 rated player. The risk of losing a turn was pretty big for both of us, but I wrongly ended up not risking it.
W: I figured that PREGATHER* would be a brutally difficult challenge and that I would need the other much more hittable lines on the board (S of PISTOU, C of RACOON, T and U of PISTOU, in descending order of importance) to stay open to complete the comeback, so I gave this a try. Joey didn't like it, but it stayed on.
>Joey: ABEEQTU 4J BEET +27 355
#note I was hoping for a Q bonanza from O11, but I would have passed it up had I noticed BEQUESTS 12C.
>Will: AEILNVW 2M VAW +30 295
>Joey: AHNNQRU 4C QU.N +26 381
>Will: EEILNOX O11 EXINE +65 360
#note Better than EXILE given the two Ns lurking in the pool.
>Joey: ?AGHNRY 12A GRAYHeN. +82 463
>Joey: ?AGHNRY -- -82 381
#note There are more words starting with GRAY than GREY, but this is the only one that can only be GREY. Even with the lost turn, the tile pool did not look bingo friendly, so still felt in good shape.
>Will: GILNOPU L8 .OUPLING +80 440
#note J: I am no longer in good shape. Great comeback by will, bad implosion by me.
W: I actually made an enormous mistake here, challenging GRAYHENS* before doing some math to determine whether I could win the game simply by leaving it on and bingoing out, catching him with BDKU. It turns out that if I let the phony stay on the board, I lose by ONE point! Given that I instachallenged before figuring this out, if Joey had some way to win the game by bingoing out with something I didn't see through PISTOU after I play COUPLING, it would have been one of the most crushing losses I've ever had. Fortunately, I had a lot of time (more than enough time to re-score the entire game if need be to ensure that I would win by leaving the phony on, I might add). I looked for about 8 minutes for other bingos and ultimately decided I couldn't see anything, allowing me to play COUPLING with confidence.
>Joey: ?AGHNRY B9 .HAGRiN +40 421
#note CRYING is better and not much less accurate.
>Will: BDKU 6C BU.K +20 460
>Joey: Y 9I Y. +18 439
>Joey: (D) +4 443
