#player2 Joshua_Sokol Joshua Sokol
>Michael_Ecsedy: ABBEEIR 8D BARBIE +26 26
#note Michael kibitzed that he wanted to play BRIBE here, but he had to play this instead because it was cuter. I told him that his cutest play was probably BIEBER* (I am so fast at inferring tiles that certain opponents are keeping).

Quackle concurs that BIEBER* would have been the cutest contest, but BARBIE sims better than BIEBER*. That's cause barbies are made up, like a simulation and Bieber is real!
>Joshua_Sokol: EIIRRSY F6 YI.R +15 15
#note In all seriousness, Michael's last play was smart and strong. It was the sim favorite.
>Michael_Ecsedy: CEOT G3 COTE +14 40
#note And just one turn later, I feel like I would never come up with this play, no matter what my leave was.
>Joshua_Sokol: DEIORSY H4 YO +20 35
#note better play here than at 7H because I am shooting mostly for a bingo hooking BARBIES.
>Michael_Ecsedy: AEOR E8 .ERO +10 50
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEIIRS J2 DAIRIES +75 110
#note super interesting choice here between the three 75-point bingos here. But I won't bore you all with such meaningless analyses
>Michael_Ecsedy: ?EILSTU 11E .UTLIErS +64 114
>Joshua_Sokol: DGNORWZ E3 GROW +25 135
#note damn, I had I7 W(E)ND(I)GO for 27! And I5 ROW(E)D for 30! And L8 GRO(S)Z for 34 to block the S. Many good plays missed in favor of this middling play. If I'm to play here, GOWD is unquestionably better. If I draw an E I have 50 points for ZEND(O)
>Michael_Ecsedy: MPSV 3I V.MPS +32 146
>Joshua_Sokol: AADMNRZ H11 .AZAR +45 180
>Michael_Ecsedy: IJO 14F JI.O +27 173
>Joshua_Sokol: HLLMNTW I6 TH.W +29 209
>Michael_Ecsedy: OP 10J PO +21 194
>Joshua_Sokol: EEHLLMN 12L HELL +26 235
#note Ooh, L3 (P)HELLEM, that's cute! When did that (recently?) come up? In one of my games? I thought it was better to put an L in the triple than the M, since that gave him 6 points fewer on the triple, but I was completely wrong. In fact, Michael averages the exact same after both plays. So I just shot myself in the foot with 6 points-worth of ammunition. I also thought that EMN was a better leave for scoring than ELN. Wrong as well.
>Michael_Ecsedy: EEGT O11 G.EET +18 212
>Joshua_Sokol: DEFMNNQ 13K DEF +30 265
#note Not super thrilled about seeing this Q with all these consonants, but there are 3 U's left, and unless Michael just missed G(L)UTE, I think they are all out there still. Between FEM and DEF, I liked DEF slightly more because the M was better as a scoring tool next turn than the D was. The D on the other hand is better for my Q, so I should probably give a slight preference to FEM here. It's really close, whether I want to look only one turn in the future or two to four turns into the future.
>Michael_Ecsedy: ADEG D2 GAED +22 234
>Joshua_Sokol: AAMNNQV C1 NAM +25 290
#note Better than VAN because it doesn't open a bingo lane, and I feel like he has an S here. The biggest deal for me here was that if I draw an I, I have a cute spot for QI at F3. Now 6 letters save my Q.
>Michael_Ecsedy: AC 1A CA. +15 249
#note but now he can do this and I have to start worrying a lot about what that C can do for me.
>Joshua_Sokol: EKNNQUV 2B N.. +12 302
#note But now that I've successfully drawn a U, I can worry about playing it off later, there are multiple spots. It's best to block the lane Michael has just set up.
>Michael_Ecsedy: NU N14 NU +10 259
>Joshua_Sokol: EKLNQUV M3 .EV +6 308
#note I am confident I can block any of his setups or outrun them now. Best to cut his bingo chances down to 0%. They are still around 5% after (P)LUNK and that gets rid of my U for my Q.
>Michael_Ecsedy: IT 9C TI.. +9 268
#note Is STIER a word?
>Joshua_Sokol: AKLNQUU C9 .ALUK +18 326
#note I really don't like STIER but I have to assume it might be good, right? This would be my play anyway at least, unless I should want to attempt 10A QUA, but if he has the blank, that could spell disaster with a 50-point play bringing the game close.
>Michael_Ecsedy: AO 5L A.O +6 274
>Joshua_Sokol: IINNQUX 6N XU +50 376
#note Now you might be saying this is a clear path to victory for me. But it isn't! FONDEST + ? is really awful for me, because if STIER is good (which I have to now assume it is, as it's one of the ways I lose), he has a bingo that plays no matter what at B4! Playing XI or XU for 50 were not really any different for me. I still have QI F2 for 42 next turn, regardless. But it seemed he might have something on column O with a *SI* pattern, but I don't have much time to look. So XU looks better, since there must be fewer *SU* words than *SI* words. But wait! TONS(U)RED is available if the F is in the bag!! So actually even if STIER isn't a word, I have at least 1/8 chance of losing this game after this play. XI is best, because nothing plays on column O afterwards!

Michael has an incredible attribute of being able to make most games extremely stressful to the very end. Kudos to him.

More incredibly, I was calculating everything, and I thought I won 2/8 if STIER was a word. if the N is in the bag, FOnDEST scores 71 and I win by 1.

If the T is in the bag, FONDESt scores 68 and I win by 4. If the S is in the bag, FONDEsT scores 72 and we tie. But I was pretty sure he had both S and ? on his rack, so a bit less than 2/8 were my chances, or so I thought. Turns out I drew one of the tiles I thought I won with, and he pulled something else out of his sleeve!!!
>Michael_Ecsedy: ?DEFOST B4 DEFrOST +79 353
>Michael_Ecsedy: ?DEFOST -- -79 274
>Joshua_Sokol: IINNNQ F2 QI +41 417
#note The walk of shame to the challenge computer ended in quite the surprise. STIER*! Wow.
>Michael_Ecsedy: ?DEFOST B10 FE +28 302
#note -5 to 14A DoAT setting up FE(D)S
>Joshua_Sokol: INNN 12B N.N +12 429
>Michael_Ecsedy: ?DOST 7M DOT +18 320
#note N4 T(OX)OiDS. this is -12
>Joshua_Sokol: IN L1 NI. +6 435
>Joshua_Sokol: (S?) +2 437
#note what an intense game. Why is it so hard to beat Ecsedy?! He plays really well against me...
