#player2 Joshua_Sokol Joshua Sokol
>Mack_Meller: MSUV H7 VUM +16 16
#note he dropped an S, and I asked him if he was trying to put me on tilt :P
>Joshua_Sokol: EEEINVW 7F VI.E +12 12
#note I narrowed down Mack's range a lot here so much so that I figured G9 or I9 EEW would probably give back too many points. I think I made the right call here, to start up with a very strategic board
>Mack_Meller: DF 8G F.D +15 31
>Joshua_Sokol: AEENRRW G6 W..E +16 28
>Mack_Meller: II -II +0 31
>Joshua_Sokol: ACENORR 6G .ORN +22 50
#note too bad I couldn't add my other 4 tiles to the front of this word.
>Mack_Meller: AEHP 5J EPHA +20 51
#note Mack realizes he needs to make something happen
>Joshua_Sokol: ACEEIRR L3 AC.IER +24 74
#note luckily for him I don't hit a bingo with my very strong CARE leave. Playing a bit longer with C(H)ARIER is also an option, but I wanted at least a little bit of strength in my leave, so I sacrificed 2 points to keep ER instead of the lone E.
>Mack_Meller: ADEGOST 4D DOTAGES +75 126
>Joshua_Sokol: AERRTUY 3G YAR +26 100
#note I figured it was very close between playing F9 RYU and playing this for 7 more points. The U is really bad compared to the A, but the points and superior board position are hard to say no to. This sets up my R with R(YA) 5C RAY scores one fewer and sets up my T, but I originally counted YAR as 27 instead of 26, and that extra point might have made me change my mind and play RAY instead! It's close.
>Mack_Meller: EGNOOY 10B GOONEY +30 156
#note I was regretting not playing RYU until he gave me just the letter I needed
>Joshua_Sokol: BENORTU B7 BUR.ONET +72 172
>Mack_Meller: ?ADESTT 15B ScATTED +86 242
>Joshua_Sokol: AAILLMX A1 MAXILLA +105 277
#note And thus ends a very ridiculous sequence. Now it's a rush to hook MAXILLA.
But do either of us really know MAXILLA's hooks properly? I assumed Mack did!
>Mack_Meller: AAEFN 14D FAENA +26 268
>Joshua_Sokol: ILOQSSU J8 SUQ +40 317
#note I did not know the hooks for MAXILLA. First I imagined it took an E and an R. I was pretty sure it wasn't the same as VEXILLA because I didn't think MAXILLUM* was a word. Mack's disappointment face when he played FAENA told me that there was probably more than one hook. But I felt like I just couldn't risk losing a turn and falling behind by playing S(U)Q. I felt comfortable even if he were to hit a hook, since the I had good bingo tiles. I preferred this over QU(AG) because of the difficulty associated with blocking the Q if I take a large lead and I need to prevent bad case scenarios. I really shouldn't worry about creating a Q lane, even if there is more than one U out. This is a huge mistake, as 8A S(U)Q is 87 points.
>Mack_Meller: DHIOT D7 DHO.TI +28 296
>Joshua_Sokol: EILOSUZ 10J .UIZ +22 339
#note At this point, R(U)T(H) is the only way I can foresee Mack hitting a huge play, unless he is using a blank, after which I can set a lot of stuff up for my case S.
>Mack_Meller: RT 8A R.T. +72 368
#note I definitely trusted that Mack knew the hooks that MAXILLA took, and he really thought MAXILLAR* was good too! How can I possibly challenge this? I'm not in a losing position yet.
>Joshua_Sokol: BELLNOS H1 BL.. +21 360
#note Still in decent shape with my bingo tiles and only a small deficit. I can win this game in many different ways.
>Mack_Meller: GIW 3C WIG +20 388
#note This seemed like bad news, though
>Joshua_Sokol: ELNNOOS M10 .ONE +26 386
#note WIG to me implied a blank. WIG may have been played without a blank in hand, but not the way Mack played it. Hard to explain. Anyways, this was not the draw I was hoping for. In our last game I made a play blocking options with the J Mack may have had, and this time I know he didn't have the J, and that there is a 3/7 chance he drew it. Still, M10 (Z)OON didn't seem right. He's always playing in that area unless he has a bingo, so I really don't want to give him a scoring spot. I also hated blocking a prime lane for a 7-letter word with my play, but the scores were close enough that I figured I had a chance of winning even without a bingo. Mack's pre-endgame is very good, but still it seemed he could have some I trouble or no scoring plays. I was wrong, I probably should have gone straight for a bingo.
>Mack_Meller: ?CEIIJK 12H JErKI. +48 436
#note His best play, winning 5 out of 8 draws, as correctly calculated by Mack under time pressure. Nice job.
>Joshua_Sokol: EILNORS 7L .ON +4 390
#note blocking (E)PIC, saving two big plays for next turn.
>Mack_Meller: CIP K9 P.C. +28 464
>Joshua_Sokol: EILRS 11A L.I.ERS +37 427
>Joshua_Sokol: (I) +2 429
