>Ross_Brown: AAAEGHS - +0 0
#note I didn't pass, here; this is how I annotate games where I go second.
>Deen_Hergott: AUV 8G VAU +12 12
>Ross_Brown: AAAEGHS 9H AHA +21 21
#note Best.
>Deen_Hergott: DELT 10J DELT +16 28
>Ross_Brown: AEGIISU M6 AUGI.E +9 30
#note Best among all plays that dump the U.
>Deen_Hergott: AIN 8L A.IN +18 46
>Ross_Brown: AHIRSST N2 AIRTH +45 75
#note I wasn't aware of SHARIATS+, a new (2014) variant spelling of SHARIAHS/SHARIAS. That would have been pretty.
>Deen_Hergott: EIOPRTV L2 FOODY +33 79
>Deen_Hergott: EIOPRTV -- -33 46
#note I'm sure Deen got away with this one against me once before! Not twice. :)
>Ross_Brown: NRSSSUY O1 SYN +25 100
#note Best.
>Deen_Hergott: FOOY 11H YOOF +34 80
#note There were three spots for Deen to play YOOF+, so not much sense trying to block it.
>Ross_Brown: ADRSSUV H11 .AUDS +30 130
#note Best.
>Deen_Hergott: DEEIMNT 15A DEMENTI. +86 166
>Ross_Brown: BEEORSV A8 OBSERVE. +95 225
#note I did get rather a lot of V's this tournament, but at least this one was productive.
>Deen_Hergott: IKR M1 IRK +34 200
>Ross_Brown: DEINNRS B2 ENDRINS +72 297
#note This is where the game turns.
#note It looks like I'm in clover - three choices for my bingo, going to be up by almost 100 points at mid-game.
#note 13H (U)NRINSED is worth two points less, and could open a big scoring line for his J/Q/X/Z, but doesn't further open the board.
#note I chose ENDRINS over that and DINNERS because it mostly neutralizes the top-left triple, while opening lots of minor scoring opportunities so that I can keep ahead even if Deen gets the blanks and bingos. Quackle simulation gives it the best win probability (92%+).
#note It all depends on how the unseen tiles (?? AAEEEEEIIIOOOOOU BCCFGGJLLLMNPPQRRTTTWWXZ) play out.
#note Spoiler: My draws from here to the end of the game are FGPQRWW, OOC (to FPQW), BJLP (to CQW), T (to BCJLPW), OU (to BJLW). Ye gods! Even exchanges wouldn't have saved me from the depredations of that sequence.
>Deen_Hergott: AENOX N10 AXONE +45 245
>Ross_Brown: FGPQRWW 14L GR.W +8 305
#note A weak attempt to minimize the damage from a play at O12 or something like 15L JEsT/ZEsT. Quackle no like. :(
#note One vowel in this rack would have been worth a lot.
>Deen_Hergott: ELM O12 ME.L +45 290
>Ross_Brown: CFOOPQW K5 POOF +27 332
#note Still a chance to generate points with the W at J6 if I can get an O or a blank. The S(POOF) hook isn't a concern, as there are plenty of open bingo lines.
#note I might have exchanged here, but given what I then drew, in retrospect, I would just have been 27 points poorer.
>Deen_Hergott: IZ L12 ZI. +26 316
>Ross_Brown: BCJLPQW 1L Q. +21 353
#note Quackle is all for an exchange here, but 21 points maintains a cushion big enough to survive one late bingo, and there are only seven consonants among the 18 unseen tiles. Maybe 13F CL(U)B instead?
>Deen_Hergott: ?ACEGIT 5A C.EATInG +70 386
>Ross_Brown: BCJLPTW F3 CL.PT +15 368
#note There's still a chance that Deen may not have another bingo to play, with so many vowels unseen (? EEIOOU LRT). If I draw one of those scarce consonants, I still have a few high-scoring plays. (Uh, nope.)
>Deen_Hergott: ?EEIORT E8 EREcTIO. +64 450
#note Normally, Deen would have found the higher-scoring bingo, but I think he was just so surprised at his good fortune (and embarrassed to witness my bad fortune) that he didn't want to prolong things.
>Deen_Hergott: (BJLOUW) +36 486
