>Joshua_Sokol: DEFIKOU H5 KUFI +22 22
#note U on the star sims best
>Kenji_Matsumoto: AELNOSU 5H .UNA +16 16
#note LEU(K)ONS is why I should have played the other KUFI, but this worked out for me
>Joshua_Sokol: CDDEORZ 4K DOZED +39 61
>Kenji_Matsumoto: EEILOOS M2 OO.E +26 42
>Joshua_Sokol: CLNOQRR 2J COL.R +26 87
>Kenji_Matsumoto: ?EEILSS O2 SI.ELESs +82 124
>Joshua_Sokol: AFNQRWY 8E FAQ.R +17 104
>Kenji_Matsumoto: DEEEINS I8 .EDENIES +61 185
>Joshua_Sokol: ENNTWWY 15F NEW.Y +33 137
#note I figured that instead of playing WYNN(S) to retain the better leave, I needed to keep Kenji from destroying the board within three turns. The letters F, K, C are really preventing the top left from getting reopened, and things are getting dire.
>Kenji_Matsumoto: BMOPRTV 11F OBV.RT +22 207
>Joshua_Sokol: AEHLNTW 12A WEALTH +37 174
#note Once again, I chose to keep the board from being closed in a few turns instead of keeping the better leave with WHA 10D. HAW 10E sets up my T but that's not really a good hook; Kenji can just play on row 12 and ensure that if I hit something, it won't be lucrative
>Kenji_Matsumoto: AAGIMNP A10 PA.ING +36 243
>Joshua_Sokol: AEEILNP N9 ELAPINE +73 247
>Kenji_Matsumoto: AAAGIMR O14 AM +26 269
>Joshua_Sokol: ?BEGJOU M7 JUBE +33 280
#note I have the last E here, and so I considered keeping it, but no play stuck out as worth the sacrifice to keep a case tile.
>Kenji_Matsumoto: AAGIMRY C9 GAM.Y +26 295
#note maybe he inferred that I had a blank, otherwise he has better plays here.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?GOORRU 10C .GRO +15 295
#note out of ideas here, other than a hail-mary fish of a U for 6B RIGORO(U)s
>Kenji_Matsumoto: ACIORTT - +0 295
#note Kenji didn't recognize this new 4
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ADHORU 12L OU.H +26 321
#note I have a playable bingo here, B3 DHOURRA. I didn't know that particular spelling. That wins the game for sure.
>Kenji_Matsumoto: ACIORTT B3 RICOTTA +64 359
#note although this was still quite unexpected
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ADIRTX A2 TAX +37 358
#note I had a lot of time here, but I missed my only win, 5A A(C)RID or a(C)RID. They win by 2 and 1 respectively. I played this with around 25 seconds left on my clock after spending 9 whole minutes scrambling to find a way to overcome my 38-point deficit. This is among the 2 2-point losses. There were also 2 one-point losses. Surprisingly o(R)ATRIX does not win, since I can't score enough with my D.
>Kenji_Matsumoto: IINSTV C1 NITS +24 383
>Joshua_Sokol: ?DIR 14D RaID +13 371
>Joshua_Sokol: (IV) +10 381
#note Out of the money, I would have gotten 4th, I believe, perhaps 5th had I won. Soul-crushing end to yet another tournament that I had high hopes for! I'll do better next time.
