>Seth_Lipkin: AIKV 8E KIVA +22 22
>Joshua_Sokol: EEIRUWZ 9H WUZ +21 21
#note Despite the vowel-heavy leave and score of only 21, this is far more defensive than other candidate plays and the EEIR combo can actuallly turn into a nice play, either a bingo or more likely a double-double through the K in KIVA. ZER(K) scores well, leaves horribly and if he has an A I am going down. other plays keep UZI, which is really bad.
>Seth_Lipkin: IRTY J6 RIT.Y +27 49
>Joshua_Sokol: DEEIORT 8J .OITED +24 45
#note My bingo leaves aren't great for this board. Seth has blocked EROTI(Z)ED and I can play DOE or OE off, but my leave isn't that good and I don't really need a bingo, better to score 10 more and keep ER.
>Seth_Lipkin: LLNO E8 .NOLL +18 67
>Joshua_Sokol: AEERTUY F10 YA +28 73
#note Unfortunately couldn't pull the trigger on KNOLLY here. It's good. TUYER there seems reasonable. I would have liked to play that instead of a more variant play. YA scores and leaves OK, I might hit a bingo around 1/3 times. I could alternatively play YEA at D10 for 5 fewer for the more balanced leave. I considered this as well. But YU(L)E was also a candidate, because it keeps a very good leave, AERT, but only scores 14. I figured 14 points was just enough to merit keeping the worse leave.
>Seth_Lipkin: GIIV 12A VIGI. +26 93
>Joshua_Sokol: EEMORTU O7 U.OMETER +62 135
#note but now I was very worried. No S out yet, and Seth is therefore very likely to hook UDOMETER next turn, probably for just as much as my bingo scores. But I don't have any better option. This is the downside of keeping EERTU.
>Seth_Lipkin: EJST 15L JETS +93 186
>Joshua_Sokol: ACEGHOR B10 CH.GOE +36 171
#note This was dangerous, but I think I had to take the points here, AR was a good leave as well. I could play N8 (E)GO here, which, even though only scoring 15, lets me play a bingo 50% of the time next turn, compared to this play's 27%. B10 CH(I)AO is 32 and I missed that, but GER isn't very good here at all. AR is more than marginally better on this board, so I decided to go all out here.
>Seth_Lipkin: AFL 15A L.AF +33 219
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AAELOR M2 AReOLA.E +68 239
>Seth_Lipkin: IQ N1 QI +26 245
>Joshua_Sokol: ?BEHPRT 4L H.RB +22 261
#note Here's where paranoia sets in. I didn't want to play B(e)TH because ITC(H) and INC(H) will still play. I can't really afford to fully block big O1 plays, but I wanted to play HERB anyway. The leave of EPR? is definitely better than EPT? here, and BETH is 2 more points. This is a 4-point mistake, and I pay dearly for it.
>Seth_Lipkin: EEINOSS 14D EOSINES +66 311
>Joshua_Sokol: ?DEPSTT H12 PE.T +27 288
#note PETARDS would play for 91. I also realized after the fact that my S was pretty useless here. I should be playing SPE(N)T for 3 more to dig deeper for a desperately-needed I to put at O1. PENT, PEND and SPEND are very close to one another in a sim as well. Also the X will be quite important here. I should sacrifice bingo chances (that aren't great no matter what I do) for points and the extra shot at the X or an I.
>Seth_Lipkin: DX 13G X.D +43 354
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ADNRST 6C STRANDe. +60 348
#note very interesting choice between TuNDRAS I1, O1 iD for 40 and STRANDe(R) on 3F or 6C. I think I decided wrong.
>Seth_Lipkin: BNNOR L8 .NBORN +18 372
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEINUW H1 UNAWE. +42 390
#note Super worried about H1 plays here. I can now cash the I for 46 and save UNAWE(D) for next turn, but really I doubt that spot will stay open. I think Seth is good enough to know he has to bite the bullet and open up those lanes by playing at H1, despite what he told me post-mortem about what he might have played instead. It's very counter-intuitive to empty the bag here, but the only reason that would make playing short better here is if I think Seth would be too chicken to play at H1, allowing me to play UNAWE(D) next turn. ID + UNAWE(D) would be a better sequence than UNAWE(D) + ID because of the uncertainty that leaving 3 in the bag creates in Seth's analysis of the pre-endgame, but I was confident he would play at H1. So I'm left with playing UNAWE(D) first. He might have the last I but he can't hook AI with what's left, so 33 points leaving Seth with 6 tiles seems beneficial for me, just like an endgame where I have tempo. I figured that 54 points minus the 5 tiles I draw would be enough to outrun Seth. Outs in two for him didn't seem like they should score that much, but alas...
>Seth_Lipkin: AEEFGMU N11 FUME. +35 407
#note GAUME(D) would have played. We will never know if Seth would have played FUME(T) instead of GAUME(D). If so I think I might have won. I saw his less lucrative win, M11 FEU + I1 MAGE or the other way around.
