>Joshua_Sokol: BDIRTWW -BDWW +0 0
#note I did not want to play through with this rack. I think it's correct to exchange here. I was questioning keeping IRT, DIRT and RT. Playing WRIT for 14 is not good because it takes an E hook, so there is no real defensive aspect to the play. Playing DRIB keeps two W's, which may end up being quite awkward. 14 points weren't seeming worth it. Keeping IRT sims equally with DIRT. My reasoning was that despite probably having a slightly higher chance of drawing a bingo with DIRT as a leave, when I fail, I am definitely less balanced in my options. RT is a point behind.
>Joey_Mallick: EEEIITV 8D EVITE +18 18
>Joshua_Sokol: AIOOPRT 7G APO +14 14
#note I should probably go ahead and just play E6 PA(V)IOR. It doesn't give back a huge scoring spot and scores decently. I really didn't like PAR(V)O or (V)APOR here because of my leave. I knew they were probably close in value, but IOT just looked so much worse than IORT for just 6 more points. I did not consider the fishiest play, 7F OI, which does well here. It sets up my PA at 6F for next turn, and that's pretty safe. I really struggled to see anything positive about any option, but I did miss PA(V)IOR, which is less mediocre than APO or VAPOR. 7H POO kept better, but opened up a silly scoring spot and scored 4 fewer. Not surprising that the two plays that I missed, PAVIOR and OI, seem to do better on a short sim, right above my play. That happens to me a lot.
>Joey_Mallick: DEINRSU J5 INSURED +68 86
#note certainly better that I didn't play PA(V)IOR in the short term, but maybe then I would have drawn something better to go with my leave. OI might have led to a bingo as well.
>Joshua_Sokol: GIIORTT 11J .IGIT +14 28
#note really bad shape as I cannot score and have to open something for him to use. Time to draw an S. K10 TOIT seems pretty bad for the board, as drawing into a bingo will then rarely hit a premium tile. 6D TRIGO is a play I could make against an inferior opponent and not panic like is necessary against a top player.
>Joey_Mallick: AABNOWZ K2 BWANA +26 112
#note I didn't think of BAIZA, but I liked setting up a possible mega Z play.
>Joshua_Sokol: EIORRTY L1 OYER +32 60
#note Let's try keeping IRT again, shall we? Normally RYOT in the same spot keeping EIR would be better, but OYER has a higher chance of turning into a bingo mainly because of the floating E's already on the board. EIR is much better for balance but things are starting to get dire. RYOT is also more defensive: underlaps are less likely. I did not consider L3 OY for 7 fewer, but that is a possible option as well, to maximize my chances at a bingo. These are three distinct options with distinct benefits and downsides. RYOT ends up edging OYER out because of the aforementioned, plus the shots at a 2x2 through the V or other scoring options that OYER does not have but I prefer my line here. Maybe that's why I failed to win this game. IRT twice.
>Joey_Mallick: DLOOSYZ 1L .OZY +48 160
#note boom, RYOT was a better play. Scrabble is unforgiving at the highest levels, unless you're playing Cesar del Solar.
>Joshua_Sokol: IMORRRT 3I MO..R +26 86
#note blech, belch. N1 (Z)ORI stood out as the desperation play, but that just seemed too boneheaded. I don't have to risk losing the game next turn. I have a few more chances to come back.
>Joey_Mallick: DELOOSS O8 LOOSED +32 192
>Joshua_Sokol: HIIRRTU N11 .HIR +22 108
#note Gosh, do I just play (V)IRTU for a measly 16 and just dawdle through my 2-bingo deficit? Do I play (G)RITH or (G)IRTH to distract Joey from controlling the board while scoring reasonably? Or do I create another quasi-desperation hook and hope to draw well next turn? I once again chose wrong, I fear. Just take the 26 probably. VIRTU would be good if the game was close.
>Joey_Mallick: EFIJLSU 15L FILE +41 233
#note ugh
>Joshua_Sokol: EGIORTU 6A GOUTIER +65 173
#note wow! Do I have a chance of winning this game or what?
>Joey_Mallick: AEJSTUV A4 JU.ATE +66 299
#note It's "what", I guess
>Joshua_Sokol: AALNPRW 4A .AWAN +30 203
#note oh gosh, I was so messed up that I missed a chance of coming back. 10C WARPLAN(E)!! I think I momentarily forgot about that E, because if I had glanced over at it, I think I would have seen my bingo. There goes my 5-10% chance at a win...
>Joey_Mallick: AFKLRSV M9 FR.SK +54 353
#note yeah this wasn't happening.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?DLNNPS D2 PL.N. +7 210
#note oh look, a blank. I love blanks
>Joey_Mallick: ABELOTV 14F VOTABLE +81 434
#note oh look, he has doubled my score again
>Joshua_Sokol: ??DDINS 15G DID +27 237
#note no real reason to play a bingo here, as my tie in the previous game made spread irrelevant. Better to go for CON(JUGATE) with one of my blanks and an out bingo. Let's just hope he plays 3 tiles or fewer so that could possibly happen.
>Joey_Mallick: CEIMQUX 2D .IQUE +36 470
#note sadness
>Joshua_Sokol: ??EGNNS B3 S.p.GENiN +66 303
#note no C? I guess I'll play the most obscure 9 I had available. I missed SEASONING, CYANOGENS, REASONING and GUANOSINE for more in the same spot. Meh. Points didn't matter. I figured out where I know this from: Mack Meller had this word blocked in one of his recent games. Thank you Siddharth Murali for pointing that out
>Joey_Mallick: ACCEHMX 1H HEX +54 524
#note lucky to draw the T, he had EXACT at A11 most of the time.
