#player2 Bernard Bernard
>Joshua_Sokol: AEFQVWY H4 WAVEY +36 36
#note This is more aggressive, probably slightly better to put the W on the star.
>Bernard: MOW G7 MOW +27 27
>Joshua_Sokol: BDFNNQR -BFNQR +0 36
#note keeping NR was never on my radar, but that's the preferred exchange here. Hindsight would tell me to exchange everything. At least I correctly identified the exceptional heuristics that made DN a better leave than DR in this case. NR doesn't score well but turns into a bingo 3% more often than DN. (-0.005)

>Bernard: EKOT F6 KETO +34 61
>Joshua_Sokol: BCDNNTZ -BCDNNT +0 36
>Bernard: AEGIIOT I4 OI +9 70
>Joshua_Sokol: EHIINSZ J2 ZIN +38 74
>Bernard: IORS 2J .ORIS +28 98
>Joshua_Sokol: EHIORST E9 HERIOTS +79 153
#note With an inference of an S, this seemed best, but I could go a tad further and infer vowels as well, and E9 SHORTIE would compete with this. I didn't overstep in this case, I believe. I think this is correct. HOISTER goes nicer with his S, slotting an R instead of another S.
>Bernard: ADEIILS D3 DAILIES +78 176
#note LIAISED is one more and slightly better positionally
>Joshua_Sokol: DNOQRVY 14B DOR.Y +34 187
#note RYND(S) would normally be better here, giving less back immediately and keeping a vowel, but if I want to get rid of my Q, the O doesn't help me at all. NV is more synergistic than OV. Hoping for one of the 4 remaining U's, or perhaps another big Q-without-U word.
>Bernard: AABILNO C3 ABO +22 198
#note Huge break for me here, as Bernard misses BA(R)ONIAL and two words on row 1, LABIA and OBIA.
>Joshua_Sokol: AEINQTV 1M QAT +49 236
#note Second break in a row as I hit a big Q play while retaining a decent leave. Where are those U's?
>Bernard: ?AILNNR J2 ...NIA +20 218
#note Nice play here by Bernard, opening the board for his blank and scoring in the process. The same could be said for 15E (S)ARIN, which keeps the better, only two-consonant leave. Though SARIN is a miserable word...
>Joshua_Sokol: BEEEINV 15A BENE. +32 268
#note After a play like that I gave thought to 10G NIEVE, but I was in worse shape if he hit a more unlikely bingo after NIEVE than if he hit a bingo after BENE(S). Not ready to be so sure he has something yet.
>Bernard: ?GLNRRU 8A RUL. +12 230
>Joshua_Sokol: EEEIJTV K7 EEJIT +26 294
#note My first clear mistake of the game, missing B6 JE(U) to score and block. EEITV isn't too terrible. I was excited to finally see EEJIT over the board, as it's one of those words that I keep missing. Well, I guess it was correct to miss it this time!
>Bernard: ??FGINR A1 FRINGie. +83 313
#note First started to put FINGERE(R) down, then realized he wasn't making FINGERE(D) and decided FINGERER was unlikely to be valid. But I was very close to challenging FRINGIER, even though I knew FINGERER was good!! Good thing I had a good response.. 12D R(I)FlINGs would have killed me.
>Joshua_Sokol: DEELNUV 12A UNVE.LED +80 374
#note not to mention, I actually overdrew after the exciting EEJIT play (really threw me off to finally see that word I guess!). Bernard had been kibitzing about how many E's I had been playing, so his decision to throw an E back into the bag after taking EEL from me was definitely influenced by that! He should have left me with an excess of E's, and then I would have been in pretty awful shape. I would have probably even challenged FRINGIER and lost my turn! Really huge break for me.
>Bernard: EEPPTX J10 PET +23 336
#note I only have a partial leave here. Bernard was going for the S for a humongous 77 point-play of P(I)XES 3I, but didn't want to get rid of his T, since he could also hit (E)XPAT with an A draw. He definitely should have kept his T here I think.
>Joshua_Sokol: ACFMRSU 13E .AF +25 399
#note And here I made a really horrible decision. There was absolutely no reason for me to do this. I too wanted to hit the 3I spot but after PET I figured Bernard definitely had the last E. So I just decided to score and keep things closed, which is fine, but it's definitely preferable here to score more and open more, especially if I block the impending threat of the X, far more worrisome than Bernard hitting a bingo at this stage. I saw L10 SACRUM and somehow just decided not to play it, and missed 8K (E)CRUS, which I think I would have played. I was hoping also for a big play at 8J, but couldn't see anything I could hit without the E. I should have lost the game then and there.
>Bernard: ACEPTX 8K .XACT +66 402
#note keeping the P is definitely better here, both for another cchance at the 3I spot and also for scoring. It's anyones game at this point!
>Joshua_Sokol: CGGMRSU 9K .UG +27 426
#note And karma strikes fast, drawing the awful GG to my already unbalanced, heavy rack leave. Very luckily I can leave one in the bag here and score. I just need a vowel in the endgame! I might be better off emptying the bag with B7 M(U)GG and going for scorier* and vowellier* stuff to work with, but I doubt it.
>Bernard: AADELPU N6 PA.A +26 428
#note Bernard has got to play E3 DALE and hope for the H or the S! That's a 2/8. Sick fit in we both missed, even in post-mortem.
>Joshua_Sokol: CGMNORS 13J SCORN +20 446
#note his play was good too, but got him just short of victory. SMORG gets me one more point in the endgame, but I missed it. I finally see EEJIT, now I have to see the much-less-likely-to-come-up SMORG. I correctly found that B7 M(U)NG came just short of victory. It actually loses by 1 to F6 (KETO)L setting up HUED L11 to go out, which if I block Bernard can just play M7 H(AG) and outrun me. But playing that first and leaving himself outs is 3 points better than (KETO)L.
