>Sid_Murrali: EFW 8G FEW +18 18
>Jim_Burlant: ABEHNOT 9F BAH +20 20
#note Not sure why I couldn't think of HOB 7F, which is clearly better.
>Sid_Murrali: BEMPRU 10B BUMPER +32 50
>Jim_Burlant: EIINOTZ D10 .IZEN +32 52
#note Inability to recall the new words strikes again: PIEZO! Interestingly, Q says I should not cash the Z here - instead, INTO or INTI 11E is the play.
>Sid_Murrali: DEIS 15A IDES +36 86
>Jim_Burlant: DIILNOT 11F TOLIDIN +78 130
#note At least I get this right.
>Sid_Murrali: EEHII L8 HEI.IE +26 112
>Jim_Burlant: GILORUV K4 VULGO +23 153
#note Or VIGOUR in the same spot.
>Sid_Murrali: AEO 14A AEO. +18 130
>Jim_Burlant: AEEIRVW 6D REVIEWA. +74 227
#note And I bingo off my five-tile draw. Luck box! This is the only bingo.
>Sid_Murrali: ?AENORS M3 tREASON +75 205
#note Paralysis by 1000 choices for Sid - Q thinks Sid should play on row 14 with something like OARSMEN or REASONS at 14I. He's up to 24% with this.
>Jim_Burlant: ACEGNTX D4 CA.EX +44 271
>Sid_Murrali: AARTU H1 AURAT. +21 226
>Jim_Burlant: FGIJNPT 13C J.T +40 311
#note Fixated on the easy J dump. I saw 40 points, I got to keep my vowel, and I auto-piloted this. That said, this is a bit of a miss, but it's a miss I can live with, given that it still puts me up 85 points while I get to keep my vowel. A strong option I didn't see was FETING 13C for turnover and 5 chances at the blank. Quackle agrees with my after-the-fact analysis: JINX is best, and, even though JET (one of two virtually identical sim runners-up) concedes 14 scoreboard points to JINX, it only sims 6-1/2 points down. FETING is indistinguishable from JET in a sim. Roughly 88% to win.
>Sid_Murrali: Q 10K Q. +22 248
>Jim_Burlant: FGINPST 2F PF.I +15 326
#note Nothing scores. At this point, it registered that, spanning his HEINIE, AEON, and AURATE turns, Sid had played off 3 consonants and 10 vowels. And my REVIEWAL bingo played off more vowels than consonants. I analyzed the pool and realized the bag was 4 or 5 vowels short of balanced. Anyway - since I couldn't score, I felt I should at least add resistance to the triple line. Admittedly, this isn't airtight but it does eliminate a number of row 1 bingoes. Q feels I should fish with C9 F(U)G or FAT 5C. I sort of see the logic behind them as they score comparably and don't leave me w/o vowels. However, I passed them up because they didn't defend against the bingo threats. Maybe FUG if I had this turn to do again, since it keeps my vowel and defends against 8A plays.
>Sid_Murrali: DDR 13K R.DD +12 260
#note What was I saying about the pool being low on vowels?
>Jim_Burlant: CGNNOST O9 TONGS +15 341
#note He's obviously setting up his S, and I have to block; if I don't do it now, I may not get another chance. This isn't one of the original choices, but the shock is that Quackle actually likes it - it sims best. Sid told me post-mortem that he had YaNKERS ready to go for 101 had I not blocked! Anything other than burning the S to block the O column loses the game.
>Sid_Murrali: ?EKNRSY 5C K.Y +30 290
#note Actual rack.
>Jim_Burlant: ACGNOOY B4 COY +27 368
#note I deliberately used the C to kill any bingoes in the northwest. Admittedly there are still possibilities on row 1, but they're limited. As far as the B column is concerned, Q thinks I left points on the table, and that I should have played B2 COGON or CONGO B1. Pfft. That said, the B column wasn't Q's first choice, as the duck thinks I should have taken 42 points with ONYX to go up by 92. The duck may have a point, but I'd feel better about opening the A and B columns if the M was in my rack and not at large.I'm fine with this.
>Sid_Murrali: ?ENORS N6 NO +10 300
>Jim_Burlant: AAGMNOU 7M ..U +3 371
#note Equity goes out the window here. I put this down to take away his easiest line. Even if he hit on row 1, it will only score 76 and I'll have an A column play coming back that guarantees the win. Q says that LOUMA H11 or A6 OGAM guarantee the win right now and that I shouldn't bother with the cat-and-mouse game.
>Sid_Murrali: ?EILRST 10N L. +4 304
>Jim_Burlant: AAGMNOT A5 TANGO +35 406
#note Now that I know for sure he's got bingoes all over the board (ATELIERS on row 1, any number of words ending in ES on row 14) I need to score. TANGO scores 35 and I'll eat 8 points from AM. Worst case, if he hits something on row 1, that will max at out 76 points, which won't be enough. As for this choice - I couldn't think of TOMAN for 3 more, but the win is the main thing, especially in a 6-game 1-day tournament.
