#player2 Chris_Cree Chris Cree
>Jim_Burlant: ?ABELTT 8D BATTLEd +72 72
#note Great start! Better might have been BLATTEd in the same spot, placing the L instead of the A in the 2x2 lane.
>Chris_Cree: FHIT E7 F.ITH +22 22
>Jim_Burlant: ADEORSW 9I REDOWAS +70 142
#note Lazy - S(H)ADOWER scores 80 and doesn't slot the triple.
>Chris_Cree: EKU O6 KUE. +24 46
>Jim_Burlant: AENOPRZ L8 Z.NER +48 190
#note Maybe ZONAE instead? A bit rushed here for sure. Interestingly, Q says I should not cash the Z, as it thinks I should be playing PAEON 10J for 39. Regardless, still in excellent shape at 94% to win.
>Chris_Cree: GO 10L .OG +20 66
>Jim_Burlant: AACNOPY K11 YAP +28 218
#note While REDOWAS and ZONER were suboptimal, I'll defend this choice as it reduces the damage a well-placed S can cause. Q thinks I should be playing at 10H with PAY. I'm fine with this.
>Chris_Cree: EE 7E .EE +12 78
>Jim_Burlant: ACINNOU E5 UN..... +26 244
#note Whiffing on CONTINUA/COUNTIAN on row 10. 10B CONTINUA is definitely the play here. UNFAITH is best of the rest, but there's no excuse for whiffing on words I have studied and know.
>Chris_Cree: DEFNORS 5C FO.NDERS +62 140
>Jim_Burlant: ACIIINO F10 IONIC +24 268
>Chris_Cree: EEW 10H EEW +30 170
>Jim_Burlant: AADEIIL 4F AID +16 284
#note I'm not only whiffing on bingoes I know, but now my decision making gets questionable. I saw something like GADJE as the obvious danger. I convinced myself the problem with plays like AALII at 4I was that, with QX unseen, I thought that the worst case gave back too many points. And, with only 2 E's unseen I had to hold onto mine. In reality, my lead is big enough that I shouldn't sweat about a worst-case 46 points if he's got AQT in his rack. This is mid-pack but it's still 94% to win.
>Chris_Cree: ACIIJMU C3 MA.IC +30 200
#note Actual rack. Chris told me post-mortem that AID blocked his impending JUIC(E) H1. While his leave wasn't great, this was still a very strong play. His thinking was that with 4 tiles turned, if he drew one of H, R, or T, he'd have HAJ/RAJ/TAJ at 4B. The unseen tiles give him a 54% chance of that being the case. And, unbeknownst to Chris, my rack gave him a 62% chance.
>Jim_Burlant: AEILLOP D11 PAL +18 302
#note Again, holding onto my E and getting confused about which anagrams of AILP take the back S. I considered LILO D2 to defend against 4B or 4A plays...I should have gone there. Or if I was going to play here, PILEA for 6 more. This is lame.
>Chris_Cree: HJ 4B H.J +44 244
>Jim_Burlant: EEILOOU 3G LOUIE +16 318
#note Yikes! Remember how a few turns back I was worried that AALII would give easy points back if he had QI/QAT/QUA or the X? Now, the play screaming to be made from this rack potentially gives back 100+ if he's got QAIDS. The flip side: can I afford to pass up 16 points and 5 tiles turned? I felt I had to roll the dice. Quackle agrees - this is best and 14B OLEIC deserves honorable mention. Despite all my other mistakes, I'm still 85% to win.
>Chris_Cree: AILMU 4K MIAUL +20 264
>Jim_Burlant: AEOOSTT O1 TOO. +12 330
#note Huge sigh of relief from me when MIAUL came down.
>Chris_Cree: ABGN C12 BANG +22 286
>Jim_Burlant: ADEIRST 1H TARDIES. +80 410
#note Wasn't 100% on the S back hook to IONIC and took no chances. Best is STAIDER or ASTRIDE back-hooking IONIC on row 15.
>Chris_Cree: X 6B X. +25 311
>Jim_Burlant: ?GNOQRS N3 S.Q +14 424
>Chris_Cree: EIRTVVY M12 TIVY +23 334
>Jim_Burlant: ?GNOR 15L G.NO +30 454
#note Saw ORanG(Y) as a potential out play but was only sure of the word as a 7 ending in EY.
>Chris_Cree: ERV H10 .VER +8 342
>Chris_Cree: (R?) +2 344
#note Hats off to Chris for making me sweat - as well as I was drawing, that he closed to within 58 points before I finally drew the easy bingo was no mean feat. At least one of us played well, and it sure wasn't me.
