#player1 Mike Mike
#player2 Paul_Holser Paul Holser
>Mike: EGHNTTV 8D THEGN +20 20
#note Quackle barely prefers VET 8G to this; I'm not happy about the four-consonant leave, but I can see it.
>Paul_Holser: EJU 7C JEU +25 25
>Mike: ILOSTTV D3 VIOL.. +18 38
>Paul_Holser: DGIINSW H3 WINDI.GS +64 89
>Mike: AIOOSTT - +0 38
#note WINDINGS looks much less like a word when you needed that N. (Playing OSTINATO at 5D is best.)
>Paul_Holser: BRW 5B BR.W +18 107
>Mike: AIOOSTT I5 OOT +12 50
#note Playing these tiles as TOO G2 keeps more avenues open.
>Paul_Holser: ?AACEET 10F CA.EATEd +67 174
>Mike: AAEINST K4 SANITA.E +82 132
>Paul_Holser: FK J9 K.F +21 195
>Mike: AELLMNS B2 LAM. +16 148
#note LIMNS 4G does a better job of doing what I'm trying to do here.
>Paul_Holser: EIR L4 IRE +14 209
>Mike: EILNRSV 3A V.L.E +22 170
#note Sim prefers ERVIL L10, which makes sense in hindsight; a short play at 12K will kill the bottom half of the board completely, so preemptively opening it is probably necessary.
>Paul_Holser: DT L9 T.D +18 227
>Mike: ?DINPRS 12D PINDeRS +79 249
>Paul_Holser: CTU 11C CUT +18 245
>Mike: EHIRRXY F12 .IXY +30 279
#note Not sure why I felt the need to do this; REV A1 is fine. (Hold that thought for a couple of turns, though.)
>Paul_Holser: AMOR 15D MA.OR +39 284
>Mike: EEHLPRR 14B PEH +23 302
#note REV seems even more clear here. I think I just went spot-blind.
>Paul_Holser: BGO 13A GOB +24 308
>Mike: EFLOORR A1 RE. +20 322
#note Now I finally see it, and it's the wrong play! LEVO is a clear improvement.
>Paul_Holser: AEU 14H EAU +7 315
>Mike: AFLOORY M3 ARF +21 343
#note This is an awful play. Why did I make this play? OY 6A seems perfect; avoid setting up a massive Z spot, score well, play as few tiles as possible to avoid the Q. (Was I trying to set up QI in case I drew it? I don't know. I do, however, know that I was running low on time, and that my tracking was a mess.)
>Paul_Holser: EO 3G O.E +8 323
>Mike: LNOOQSY N1 YON +14 357
#note At this point, despite multiple attempts to retrack, I still had the pool wrong (I showed ADEINTUZ left). Surprisingly, I managed to have the right idea (block the ZARF hook), but my tracking made me execute it poorly. Had I known there was no T out, I could play OY in this spot (5/8 winning endgames), confident I wasn't setting up ZETA or the like. This probably shouldn't work, but watch what happens.
>Paul_Holser: DEIINUZ O1 ED +27 350
#note With best play all around, this should lead to a tie. Playing just YE 1N and going for the one-tile-at-a-time sequence is best, but Paul was also very low on time.
>Mike: ALOQS A11 LO. +5 362
#note LOP B12 is the only tieing sequence according to Quackle, but I didn't know that; I thought TIZ 15J was coming.
>Paul_Holser: IINUZ F4 UNI +15 365
#note Several winning plays here; this is not one of them.
>Mike: AQS I14 .S +13 375
>Paul_Holser: IZ G10 .I. +4 369
>Mike: AQ C5 .A. +12 387
>Paul_Holser: Z - +0 369
>Mike: Q - +0 387
>Paul_Holser: Z - +0 369
>Mike: Q - +0 387
>Paul_Holser: Z - +0 369
>Mike: Q - +0 387
#note I have no idea how I won this game.
>Mike: Q (Q) +-10 377
