#player2 Jennifer Jennifer
>Adam: ADELNNS -N +0 0
#note JENNIFER: This game includes comments and some discussion back and forth between me and Adam. Where I ask a question and there is no response from Adam, he concurred that my reasoning was correct. My thanks to Adam for kindly sharing his racks and thoughts on this game.
>Jennifer: HILLOOS H4 HILLO +24 24
#note JENNIFER: I don't know why I did not play HOLLO instead. I think I thought OS was better than IS because there are more I's out there, but I think that was wrong.
>Adam: ADELNOS 9F LOADENS +70 70
#note JENNIFER: I held this play because I did not know HILLOA, but I did know that HILLO takes an S and I have high respect for Adam's word knowledge, so I figured he would not play this instead of hooking the S to make HILLOS when he have that valid play.
>Jennifer: EELOORS K4 LOOSE.ER +82 106
#note JENNIFER: Being able to play a double-double on Adam felt pretty sweet.
>Adam: ?AEIKNW 8J W.AKEN +50 120
#note ADAM: I did see sWANKIER/KNItWEAR and rejected them in favour of this.
>Jennifer: JNNSTXY J5 NY +28 134
#note JENNIFER: J(O)NTY at 6K was a big miss. I don't usually hold the power tiles, especially when I have two at the same time, but I felt okay holding the J and X because it seemed like there were good scoring opportunities in the future for both. I wish I could have played JYNX(E)S for a good score, but it was not enough in my view.
>Adam: ?AFGIMO 11E GAsIFO.M +76 196
#note JENNIFER: Super cool word.
>Jennifer: FJNRSTX G8 J.R. +19 153
#note JENNIFER: J(O)TS would have been better if I was going to do this.
>Adam: BNOPRRV L2 PROB +25 221
#note ADAM: Not as good as PROVERB at N4.
>Jennifer: AEFNSTX 12H FAX +40 193
>Adam: ANORTTV 2J VA.OR +36 257
#note ADAM: oops. I saw TEVATRON but somehow convinced myself that it is only BETATRON and BEVATRON.
>Jennifer: EIMNNST 12L MINT +26 219
#note JENNIFER: I did consider (M)M, or MEN, which Quackle suggests, but I wanted points.
>Adam: CENRTTT 4C TRENC. +22 279
>Jennifer: AEGNPSU 1M PUG +24 243
#note JENNIFER: Had I remembered SPUG, I might have played this down at 12D given that i was holding the S. Quackle does not like that play much, though. I'm not sure why? Is it because there is already a higher scoring S-ending lane there (hooking IF)? ................. ADAM: probably that, together with overlaps on row 13.
>Adam: GIIQTTW N10 QI. +32 311
>Jennifer: AEINSUV D1 VAU.IENS +66 309
>Adam: ACGITTW 1D .ATIC +30 341
#note ADAM: I had been planning to play TWIG at 12C, but thought I had to use this opening. Simulation seems to agree.
>Jennifer: DEIORST 13B TRIODES +74 383
#note JENNIFER: I spent a long time on this turn thinking about which bingo would make the board look best for me and worst for Adam. This is what I chose, and Quackle agrees, though I am not sure why I thought the T would be harder to play through down Column B than the E if I played EDITORS instead. ............. ADAM: I was kicking myself here for not blocking this line, but TRIODES would still have gone under TWIG.
>Adam: ADGHITW B10 WID.H +40 381
>Jennifer: DEEETUZ 8A ZEE. +39 422
#note JENNIFER: I started to think of DEUTZIA at this point, but could not remember how to spell it. I would have swapped the E and U incorrectly if I had played it. The first play I saw on this turn was D(I)TZ for 48. I passed on DITZ despite the higher score because the game is really close and the EEEU leave seemed deadly if I needed to continue scoring over the last turns. There were 6 vowels in the unseen pool and only 4 consonants plus the blank, so I was also very wary of holding an all-vowel leave. The consonants were also not awesome to score with. So, I played ZEE(S) instead of ZED(S) so I could hold back a more balanced leave with better scoring potential.
>Adam: ABEGTUY 2A TUB.GE +29 410
#note ADAM: I don't think there's any legitimate chance here.
>Jennifer: ADEEITU 12B .ATED +29 451
#note JENNIFER: I was very glad I had plenty of time left for this end game, and I used that time. I was really happy that I think I did correctly find Adam's best possible outplays. A higher scoring version of what I did here was I(D)EAED at 12A. There were five possible winning plays for me on this turn. All other plays led to certain loss. I found one of them. I thought of another (DEUTZIA), though I was not certain enough of the spelling to try it. The other two winning plays were E(T)UDE, taking out Adam's best scoring spot, and TEI(I)D at 5A. My (D)ATED play leaves two outplays if Adam does not go out on his next turn.
>Adam: ?AY 1A AY +26 436
#note JENNIFER: All of Adam's possible plays here lose. I think he was right to play AY, holding the blank, in the hope that I missed my other outplay or made a mistake and phonied. ........... ADAM: at some point it's time to play for spread. I didn't think of LOUIE, but Jennifer just has to avoid playing a phony or going over time to win. So yes, this gave me a tiny chance in this game, but may nevertheless have reduced my chances in the tournament.
