#note Looks like the V really sucks on this board. C(I)VET sims around a point higher, despite being 2 fewer points. Still cool with my play. I know how to use the V on these boards. It also might be cause underlaps give Ross 2 more points. Hmm.
>Ross_Brown: AGOS M1 GOAS +22 57
>Joshua_Sokol: ALMNOTV J2 VA. +18 61
#note Liked the defense of this play, but also just disliked the aimlessness of anything else. In retrospect this is just as silly as I feared it would be. I'm not ahead. At all. I should just go with H1 TOM(B) despite the likelihood that Ross has an S. Even though Ross is less likely to have an S than just about anyone else I know of.
>Ross_Brown: OW N1 OW +23 80
#note ...OK? Wonder what he kept. Probably something really strong to merit such a balls-to-the-wall play
>Joshua_Sokol: ALMNNOT O1 ATOM +45 106
>Ross_Brown: AOV K10 OVA +17 97
>Joshua_Sokol: LMNNRRW 12J M.WN +18 124
#note If he is going to bingo, which would really, really suck for me, I want him to open the board. But he might play at G8, which would also suck. Hmm. Should I just exchange and leave everything open?
>Ross_Brown: EIRS O1 ....ISER +30 127
#note phew?
>Joshua_Sokol: ?BILNRR L7 BRIN +13 137
#note Really trying to force him to play on the left side/open or let me do it myself. Now I am in good shape after drawing the blank. Other option was G8 BRR, which has many merits as well. But Ross likely kept an R, which makes BRR less good. Still really want him to only get airball bingos.
>Ross_Brown: JNOTU 13F JUNTO +18 145
#note OK, good. Time to sail
>Joshua_Sokol: ?CELRUZ 14J CRUEL +39 176
#note Oh yes, I'll give you one shot with your five-tile draw, then I'll pounce. Z? is the best leave ever
>Ross_Brown: FOPR 15L PROF +47 192
#note this is a good play for Ross, though. Foiled my plan to take it easy.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?EGLNYZ 6F ZE.. +33 209
#note Gave a bunch of neurons to the idea of playing H11 Zi(N)GY or K3 L(E)Z. Seems L(E)Z is correct. The leave is better than I thought it would be. I ultimately didn't play ZINGY because I didn't want a bad draw + a bingo by Ross to steal the game away from me. I guess he has one more turn to make something happen. 23% chance of a bingo with YENG? and only half that with ZEAL. Very telling.
>Ross_Brown: EF 5K FE +24 216
>Joshua_Sokol: ?GILNUY 15D LUNGYIs +90 299
#note Boom. I hit all of my 1/9s!
>Ross_Brown: DEX N5 XED +29 245
>Joshua_Sokol: ADDEIRT F4 AD.ED +16 315
#note Took a lot of cojones to make this big points sacrifice. But my sixth sense kicked in (or just some silly tunnel vision). He must have been building up to a bingo this whole time. M6 TIED was missed. That is probably almost always the best play. M10 DA(N)D(E)R was 8 more.
>Ross_Brown: EENSTT 8A TENTE. +24 269
#note Boom! I blocked a bingo!
>Joshua_Sokol: AAIINRT C7 A.TIARIN +70 385
#note But now what? In the end I was all set to just leave one in the bag with C7 A(N)TIAIR, and while setting my tiles down for that play, I noticed something interesting. Just my dumb luck. Although I might still lose! Lots of big scorers in the pool. He can score 80 and take my 7 tiles, and win.
>Ross_Brown: ?EEGOQS 10B Q. +31 300
>Joshua_Sokol: EHIKLRS E7 H.ILER +23 408
>Joshua_Sokol: EHIKLRS -- -23 385
#note First round of thought: I must block (A)pOGEES. Second round of thought: R(E)LISH is good, and guarantees me an out in two spots. Third and final round of thought: Oh wait, this is a word, right? I want to go out with (YON)KS!
>Ross_Brown: ?EEGOS 11C .pOGEES +14 314
>Ross_Brown: (EHIKLRS) +28 342
#note This is the tale of how I had no chance of catching up to Matthew on spread this tournament, and had to rely on beating him 3/5 times.
