#player2 Matthew_Ridout Matthew Ridout
>Jackson_Smylie: EEENOOX -EEOO +0 0
#note it's silly that I end this tournament with a 541. Q prefers OXO... I wasn't a fan of the easy overlaps and potentially dangerous leave. keeping EN might also be better, or EX.
>Matthew_Ridout: OY 8G YO +10 10
>Jackson_Smylie: ADELNNX G7 L.NX +16 16
#note XYLAN is a nice play, slightly aggressive. LYNX is a lot more defensive - if he doesn't bingo he doesn't score very much. I think with a bingo leave LYNX does better
>Matthew_Ridout: GINOP 10E PO.ING +22 32
>Jackson_Smylie: ADDEENR J5 DERAN.ED +63 79
#note dangered for a bit more? I prefer the fewer lanes this gives back
>Matthew_Ridout: AIIN 11B INIA +16 48
>Jackson_Smylie: AEEHITU 10A UH +26 105
#note or AHI. I do like UH's defense though, and I"m not a fan of HAUTE
>Matthew_Ridout: EEK 5J .EKE +18 66
>Jackson_Smylie: AEEINTY 12D TYEE +26 131
#note terrible miss of YEAN and TEENY here
>Matthew_Ridout: EOZ 12J .OZE +28 94
>Jackson_Smylie: AAILMNU N7 ALUMINA +80 211
#note I get rewarded for dumb ass plays way too often
>Matthew_Ridout: QT 7M Q.T +22 116
>Jackson_Smylie: ABJOSST 14J JOTAS +76 287
>Matthew_Ridout: EIR 8L RI.E +32 148
>Jackson_Smylie: ?BEIIOS 15H BIO +24 311
#note he blocked BIOTItES for 99!
>Matthew_Ridout: DORU L1 DROU. +24 172
>Jackson_Smylie: ?EEIMSV 2J VI.ES +32 343
#note interestingly only VErMEI(L)S as a bingo here, which I missed, though I saw the potential for the word through the R in DROUK. VERMIS or VERISM are better though. I'm fine with keeping this game risk free and taking my small cash prize
>Matthew_Ridout: GT M11 G.T. +17 189

>Matthew_Ridout: AELW A12 WEAL +45 234
>Jackson_Smylie: CDEFLOS 7A F.D +9 444
#note just greedy, and should play FE(E)D
>Matthew_Ridout: ?ABFORT 13G FAT +20 254
>Jackson_Smylie: CEILOSW 8A E.OW +51 495
#note he said he would not have challenged WILCOES*, which I considered playing
>Matthew_Ridout: AOV F5 OVA +16 270
>Jackson_Smylie: BCILPRS E2 CRIP +24 519
>Matthew_Ridout: ?AHIRRT 2B mAR.H +34 304
#note grochar is cool. RATCH as well.
>Jackson_Smylie: BGLS K11 L.B.S +24 543
>Matthew_Ridout: IRT 6H TI.R +6 310
#note I'm glad I went to nationals, and had fun besides the scrabble. I felt I was playing well during the tournament, but Joey was right to tell me I was being an idiot and definitely playing badly. My biggest issues were overthinking things, playing too paranoidly, and missing plays. I need to work most on my board vision, and over the board spend more time actually searching for plays. I misplayed a lot of things strategically, and really didn't have a good idea of how to adapt to play division 2 players. I would like to learn better, and most importantly, actually follow through with the concepts I know. Many times I just didn't think clearly, maybe out of frustration at the tournament, and maybe because I was focusing too much on "what do I do against a div b player?" rather than focusing on the game and optimizing that. I don't regret choosing to play division 2.
